First, the hotel is on an extended straight street paralleling the shoreline, but about 2 miles from any services. Most of the street is occupied by residential homes fronting the beach; all beaches are accessible in cuts between houses. To obtain services, one is obliged to drive into town, where parking is abysmally in short supply. There is limited (6-7 cars) free parking behind the hotel, with about 20 paid spaces across the street (24-hr rates are 8 Euros). The entire resort area has gone parking-meter crazy.
To add insult to injury, the 'ocean view' which we paid for turned out to be fragmented by buildings facing the hotel.
Next, the fact that the hotel has an attached restaurant open until 1 AM means that sleep is impossible until then. The revelers on the verandah below are boisterous and noisy for upstairs guests staying on the ocean side.
Surprisingly, the restaurant personnel seem oblivious to the significance of the beach in relation to takeout food. The restaurant - open all day - makes NO provision for takeout, except for 2 small paper cones of fried calamari or fried shrimp, and NO provision/permission for removing any drinks containers - cans or bottles - from the premises. None whatsoever.
Finally, our biggest surprise was the dearth of towels. Specifically, we asked for extra towels to lie on on the beach. This was rejected out of hand, as were my offers to RENT or BUY towels.
Hard to recommend HdM, in spite of courteous staff.
