Staff are excellent, very helpful & friendly. Esp. when I was checking into the hotel while my husband was driving back to Narita airport to return the rental car in a rush. A lady knowing I have language barrier but helped me by all mean. I wished I knew her name so I can appreciate her more before she took her days off from duty. On the 2nd day, a fellow staff named Kimura also very nice. Helped us with train info. etc. for our planned tours in Tokyo from Oct. 15 to 17. He also helped us contact our next hotel for shuttle pick up at night on Oct. 17. It is too bad he was off from duty after.
for the rest of our stays in Dormy Inn, the other 5 staff are also very nice and friendly even though they have difficulty in communicating with us in English. Using Google translation is A Must in travelling Japan. I am glad there was one male staff called Jason, (if I remember his name right) who speaks good English. He offered printing us the JR train schedules and told us where to make transfer to the Narita Airport. I liked the 2nd reserved room which has a washer and dryer in 1 piece. Since we could read the washing instructions, a staff came up to our room to start washing for us. So
we had clean and fresh clothes for our HK trip. Besides, this hotel provide complimentary bottle water and cups of jello for refreshment!! I will definitely recommend Dormy Inn Soga Hot Spring Chiba to all my friends & relatives. Their staff are wonderful, great & caring with A skills!

I stayed here for two weeks and the staff was super friendly and helpful, they provided fresh towels daily and the hotel had had many free facilities to use. The room was nice and a reasonable price as well. The area was also full of restaurants and other great spots, plus the subway station and bus station were so close by! The hotel, staff and location are great and i would definitely stay here again!

Friendly staff. Clean room. Very close to the subway station.
Not All Dormys Are Made Equal. Soga Disappointing.
Dormy Inn has long since been my absolute favorite chain of hotels in Japan. They have offered me comfort with their onsen-hotspring style baths after my long motorcycling tours. But their Soga location has severely disappointed me. The hot spring's size is a fraction as usual, and the quality of the water is disturbing. There is a black residue all beneath the waterline and there is a heavy smell of ammonia or sulfur. So much that my nose burns. The rooms were not so clean as well. Dormy Inn Soga is an outlier to the usually excellent hotel locations of the Dormy Inn name.

Comfortable hotel in Japan's industrial heartland
I chose Dormy Inn Soga Natural Hot Spring partly because of the Natural Hot Spring part and partly because it was cheaper than hotels nearer to the Makuhari Conference Center where I was attending a conference, yet it is easy and fairly cheap to get there by train. The hotel is very near the Keiyo line now run by JR. Basically to get here, buy a JR ticket at the main gate then try to find the Keiyo line once inside the gates (there is another way that I used but very hard to find/explain). Once in Soga you are very near the train station (yet there is no noise). There are many small restaurants near the hotel and station, maybe some Japanese needed, although most menus have pictures. There is not much else: Soga has the dubious honor of being in Al Gore's second book frontispiece with a picture of smokestacks belting pollution, so this is a very busy harbour/industrial area. The same smokestacks are visible, but no longer belting visible pollution. The hotel does charmingly offer ramen noodles for free at 9:30 pm (sharp) in a small lounge in which free coffee/tea/cocoa are also offered. The breakfast likely is very good but due to conference rush and a fairly high price, I did not try it. Once in the rush, I mistakenly got on an express train to Tokyo: this was my fault, destination indicators are clear and cycle to English. The onsen (hot spring) is very compact but nice. You have to remember to bring your towel from the room. I loved the air conditioner once figured out!

Small Rooms, Hot Springs, No Bar for Karaoke After
The rooms are a bit tiny. Breakfast was OK with both Western and Japanese selections. The best part of this hotel was that they have hot noodles and soup (for free) until 11:00 PM to help settle your stomach and absorb the alcohol that you may have chose to indulge in.

Pleasant Stay at Dormy Inn Soga
The reception team can speak basic English. Parking if you drive will be on another street and they give you discounted carpark vouches to use. The room is slightly small but good enough to ut 2 big luggage. The Onsen is a bit small just enough for 2-3 people without being seen as congested!

Nice blend of Japanese and Western culture
This is the second time I've stayed at a Dormy Inn and they're honestly a great choice if you don't want to drop a ton of money on a ryokan. The Dormy Inns tend to have a good mix of Japanese traditional hotel amenities - like the public hot spring / baths, breakfasts with a bit of local fare mixed in, and use of yukata / robes / slippers throughout hotel. They really offer good service for the price.
This particular time actually I accidentally double-booked with both Expedia and Agoda, and the hotel staff actually canceled the other reservation for me and didn't charge me a dime for it, no questions asked. They could have given me a hard time but they just fixed it.
I'd definitely recommend the Dormy and will probably stay at one again during my time in Japan.

Great location 40 minutes away from crowded Tokyo
If you don't want to stay in the city and would rather be greeted with a quieter, more suburban location, go here! Set up mostly for small party guests like couples and students. The Soga station is located literally down the street, so you wouldn't have to walk far to get to hotel. Just hop on the Soga line from Tokyo and it's about 40 minutes of a ride away from the busiest side of Tokyo. Disney Sea is right along the same Soga line too, if you plan to go to that place but don't want to stay too close to it. The hotel is updated with card keys to get up to the rooms from the elevators. And the view from the top floors isn't too bad. You can even see some of the local Sakura trees in the distance; they are all within walking distance near a small park. Not much shopping around the area, but good food and a corner store make it cozy.

Good Budget Hotel close to train
I stayed in many hotels over 9 weeks in Japan during the hot summer. This was a basic budget. The best A/C by far. Not much to do nearby, but you are within 30 minutes of Tokyo by train. Arashi Restaurant in front of train station serves great ramen etc. food.

Great hotel
This hotel is in a good location for Chiba. The staff are polite and professional. The breakfast is a wonderful Japanese meal with natto. Very good quality for the price, and exceeds all expectations. Even free laundry machines.
