Decent place, could have been better
The cleanliness was not in order, bathrooms were dirty when we checked in, had to raise a complaint with the owner to get them cleaned. The wifi connectivity was really pathetic, since we came from a different country, it created inconvenience for us as wifi was the only way for us to stay in touch. The location was fine and was 15min from Reykjavik. Overall, it was what we paid for, as it was the cheaper option

Don’t stay, must remove this nightmare from listen
hotels.com should remove this kind of product from your listings. it's typical family house and runs as airbnb . It will destroy your reputation . 4 nights stay here, you can judge immediately that bed linings are used with wrinkles and unwashed without any laundry chemical smell, they’re disgusting. Day 1 and Day 4 are same smell on bed linings with body odour and sweat after my 4 days stays. No shower gel and shampoo. Internet is almost not working . No check in instruction before arrival and call the number on the door with nervous Hopeless assistance and it’s hard to contact My food was stolen in the fridge. Noise spread everywhere in whole timber house.

The property itself was fine…. It was the getting to the property that was crazy stressful AND expensive!!!!! There should be a tip or warning of the expensive route to property from bus station… only 10 minute taxi ride that cost $44 usd each direction. Property provided an emailed link on how to get to property after it was booked…. Only problem was, the link never opened my entire stay, so I’m unsure if the information was helpful or not!?!?

Firstly the property is not well maintained, kitchen equipment are old and some are not working properly, - someone had leftover in the kitchen, it was there when we were there and still there when we checked out… it smelled all the time. - no black out window drapes, some windows do not have anything to close or block sun. - felt like the comforters and bed sheets were not washed before we checked in, felt some had used them - kitchen/dining area were not clean so we eat in our room I don’t recommend this to anyone.

HORRIBLE PLACE! PLEASE AVOID!
HORRIBLE PLACE! The main entrance door to this center would not open and had to be kicked from inside to open. While trying to enter from outside, we had to bang on the door and side window before someone opened it from inside. Extremely scary when you are with family and arrive late Bathrooms were unclean and filthy, used soap provided. Dustbins overflowing with thrash. Water in the taps had sulphur smell. Kitchen was unclean and dirty. Horrible, worst experience.

DO NOT GO HERE
THIS IS NOT A HOTEL IT IS A HOSTEL! I booked this for my wife who was stranded alone from a canceled flight at KEF. It was the only place remaining on Hotels.com, so the price was so high it was insulting. She was so disgusted by the dirt that she did NOT take a shower. She was in a room with lots of other people mostly men. I'm really glad she made it back without personal harm.

This is a lower cost option, and that is clear. My room was clean and very basic. No TV and a small desk. The heater dial was turned all the way down but was still hot, so I had to leave the window fully open. Bathrooms are in Ok shape, but the showers are cheap, and the ceiling of one bathroom appears to have mold or mildew. The front door sticks and doesn’t always fully close and lock. Trashes we’re full outside, and interior trashes weren’t dumped in the 4 days I was there. One bathroom ran out of toilet paper and that wasn’t replaced. The whole property needs maintenance. The staff had children that were loud after midnight. When returning to Reykjavik, I will look for a different option.

We needed to spend one extra night in Rekjavik and were lucky to find this place to crash. Conveniently located very close to the city center, with pretty comfortable beds and an overall zen atmosphere. This place felt like a very cozy communal house, with shared public spaces and nice private bedrooms.

Adequate accommodation but NO luxury and staff seem to be clueless. Creepy, eerie feel. The people there appeared to have no knowledge that we were staying or how long for.

Here in October and had the place mainly to ourselves. A very good place to recover from jet lag, cook up some food, do laundry, take baths, and enjoy the many rooms in this converted house (including library and attic room-in photos), with absolutely no one bothering you. That being said there was no staff though maybe a family living on premises, just paperwork explaining rules, etc. And it is definitely not in Reykjavík city but in a far outlying residential community. Still if you want peace and quiet and a home-like atmosphere, it is a great spot. We were very grateful to find it.

Cute little place. I really only was there to sleep but the check in was easy and guy was accommodating. Seemed clean, quiet.

There was no formal check-in. I didn't even have to give my name. A woman who does not speak Icelandic and could barely speak English gave me a key and told me in which direction the room is. The house itself is quite comfortable and the room was very nice, if small. Next to the house is a sculpture park outside the workshop of an artist named Hallsteinn Sigurðsson, who has been active in art here for about 40 years. The logcation of the house is a comfortable distance from the highway, but not too far. It is a little confusing to navigate the tiny streets of this neighborhood, but that's typical for many of the neighborhoods in the Reykjavík area.

The room we were given was not what we booked. The pictures oversold the property. The property manager did not come out to meet us. He was in an office which seemed to be his living area. He was laying on a mattress be his check in desk which also had a set of bunk beds and personal items everywhere. The property manager said his computer was broken (it was working) and when we reviewed the reservation from the phone, instead of a double room with private bathroom we were given a room in a basement, with 2 twin beds and a shared bathroom. When questioning it twice, he said this is what it was. There were personal items lining the halls. We could not stay and moved to an actual house. We’ve stayed at many places and this has to be the absolute worst experience. Do not believe the pictures and description. When we disputed the reservation with Expedia, they said the property owner would not cancel the reservation and therefore he demanded to be paid for the room we did not book or stay at.

False Advertisement. STAY AWAY!!
I would not stay here again! I've done a lot of travelling and this was one of those false advertising place that I feel other should know about. The room was not as big as the pictures! We had a double bed and a small lamp table and nothing else in the room. We could hardly fit regular size suitcase in there. Getting clothes to change out of our wet rainy stuff was very difficult with 2 people in the room. The bed is pushed right up to the water heater. If you have it on at night you will get burn! No air ventilation so the room is very stuffy and muggy. The bed is hard. The beddings smell moldy and used as if they have not washed from previous traveler. Someone barged into our room early in the morning because the door couldn't be locked. Most people packed their stuff in the living room!! Our room was also next to the kitchen. The owner lives there and use that kitchen to cook, and it smells like salted fish, extremely pungent! Parking is an issue, because it is in a tight cul de sac! For the price that they charged us we felt ripped off. I would rather pay $20 more a night somewhere to get better sleep especially after a long day hike and want to feel comfortable after being in the cold windy rain!
