Run -- Don't Walk -- from the Chateau
Do NOT stay here! My family recently made the mistake of staying here and we're still dealing with the aftermath. The night before we were to check in we received an email from the owner saying our 5 day reservation was cut to 3 days because of a clerical error. So we made a non-refundable reservation at another venue, only to be told when we checked in at the Chateau the next day we could stay for 5 days. When we asked for a refund of the two nights at the other hotel, we were told "a solution is being worked on." A month and multiple emails later, we are still waiting for the "solution" and the $180 euro refund for the reservation we made that we didn't need. We feel like we've been robbed and the Chateau refuses to even respond. I won't get into the problems with the room itself. Just stay away.

Waking up in a castle is AWESOME! What more can a person say. The place was amazing in every way. The spiral stone staircase in the spire to get to the room, the large authentic skeleton key to open the giant oak door to your room. The four post bed in the huge well appointed room with old books on a bookshelf and very, very tall curtains over the very, very tall windows looking out onto the very green pastures. Pure joy, oh and the French breakfast the next morning that we had all to ourselves as there was not anyone else in the castle at the time. The gentleman that owns and runs the place did not speak a word of English and we do not speak a word of French, yet we loved our time with him and his castle. He was very attentive. Five Stars!!! I want to go back! This castle was a gem of a find and we would not have found it if not for technology telling us where to go. Thank you Internet.

How exciting to stay in a castle
If you have always dreamed of staying in a medieval castle, this is your opportunity! Kids, especially, will love the feeling of staying here. The stone stairs, leaded windows, creaky cabinets, and little nooks and crannies will delight them. There is just enough chill in the air to make one shiver. Added to the atmosphere is the interesting challenge of a place where only French is spoken or understood. You may wish to bring an extra sweater or two to ward off the cold. Also, arrive at the breakfast room before others to make sure the little ones get a chance at a croissant. For a unique experience in a lovely part of France, book Chateau d' Agneaux!

We arrived at the chateaux at 8.30 pm having previously sent an email to confirm our time of arrival. When we arrived there was no room for us although we had a booking confirmation from Expedia. The man behind the desk did not apologise but put us in touch with a bed and breakfast establishment some 20 minutes away.

Avoid booking.com
Our booking through Hotels.com had not been received by the hotel. In fact, it looked to us that the hotel had not yet opened after the winter. The building was very cold and had a strong smell of winter damp. The owner did his best to help us by turning on the heat and preparing a great breakfast. However, the lack of advance booking meant the rooms and the beds were permanently cold and none of us slept very well. This looks like a great place to stay during the Summer but don't use booking.com.

Chateau D'agneaux -less than 2 hours from Cherbour
Wonderful stay, enjoyed walking from the hotel into St. Lo. on the tow path by the cannel and bought some walnuts at the market. Only in France for 60 hours and Agneaux was well placed for sight seeing. Food in the restaurant was fabulous and on a par with some of the best restaurants around the world that we have been lucky enough to frequent . My only suggestion would be to provide Tea - Coffee making facilities in the room.

Chateau D'agneaux a Relaxing retreat
My wife and 2 daughters booked a room at the castle and stayed there after visiting Mont St Michael. Most of the castle was not restored and the hotel rooms are in a former wing of the castle and what appears to be the former servants' residence. Our room was the top floor of the former servants residence and we could not have been more pleased with the experience. There is a small restored church on the premises and the restaurant is in another restored building on the grounds of the estate. We enjoyed dinner in the restaurant that evening (unfortunately we did not have time to stay for breakfast as that looked like a wonderful setting). I am not a person who normally stays at upscale places but the stay was worth the cost of both the room and the meal. Most of the rooms are accessed by way of a tight winding staircase so if you can't do stairs be sure you have a ground floor unit (there may be only one of these). The front desk person in the morning did not speak much English but the girl who checked us in spoke it well enough. We arrived at the estate around 5:00 and were glad that we got there in enough time to wander the grounds and spend some time relaxing there. Our only regret was that we only stayed one night as it would be an excellent place to spend a weekend away. All of the staff there took excellent care of us. I got up early the next morning and went for a run along the river below the grounds on a well maintained path while my wife enjoyed a soak in the sunken tub. We enjoyed the large 4 post canopied bed and our daughters loved the second room in the room we had. If you are looking for a place to flop during your travels this is probably not the place for you but if you are looking for a place where you can spend some time and relax and enjoy some beautiful surroundings I would highly recommend this hotel.

Interesting hotel out on the edge of a village near St. Lo in Normandy. We chose it because the pictures on the Website showed adorable rooms with canopied 4 poster beds and lots of space. These must have been the most expensive rooms. We reserved a standard room which was in the attic and had a bath across the hall. Never stayed in a hotel in Europe for the price without an en suite bathroom. The mini-bar in the room was two bottles of water and glasses. We decided not to stay and cancelled our reservation.

Loved it!
i really enjoyed my stay in this beautiful old chateau. The staff were friendly and welcoming, the room was quiet and nicely decorated, and the grounds were lovely to walk around. As it is such an old building and my room was at the top of a spiral staircase it would not be gret for older visitors or those with push chairs etc, but I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.

A truly French experience
We arrived at 12:30 on Monday. Reception was empty, apart from a sign directing us to the restaurant. They told us that he would be back at 14:00. At 14:30 we checked in! The room was a dump. A television half the size of a domestic microwave; no tea or coffee making facilities; half the ceiling light bulbs missing; two camp beds to sleep on. The piece de resistance were the en suite facilities, which were in separate rooms, and which could only be accessed across a public corridor. We had to run the gauntlet of other guests passing in order to take a bath or go to the toilet. The walls were waver thin and the room badly decorated. Watching television quietly at 10 p.m., we were treated to a loud banging from the folks next door. There were beams, but one was so low that my son hit his head on it. Breakfast had to be ordered by filling out a card the previous night, and was overpriced at 12 Euros. When leaving, were asked if we enjoyed our stay, I politely said no, and was about to explain why. The look of obvious ennui in the receptionist told me not to bother. The French twist came on the breakfast menu, where Champagne and Oysters were an option. The service may be appalling, the room was barely habitable and the whole operation was run for the convenience of the people working there. But look! You can have Champagne and Oysters for breakfast! This place may look pretty, but from the bottom of my heart I urge you to avoid it like the plague! It ruined our holiday.
