2/10 Poor

Rundown, dirty & neglected
Terrible experience: - the hotel is dirty like it was uninhabited for years and then hastily reopened - there is a solid layer of dust around the beds and along the walls. - the scanner is broken so they just take a picture of your passport with their personal phones - Everything is in poor condition. - The staff do not seem to have experience in hospitality; when I arrived they gave me a single room with a broken heater and insisted I had made a reservation for 1 (I had made it for 2 people to get a bigger room). - The “satellite tv” is only five channels and was broken when I got there and for three days until I brought up getting a partial refund. - The smoking ban is not enforced; guests and staff’s friends smoke and I even saw one man put out his butt on a tree - door bolt is easily jiggled open from outside - there is no restaurant or bar - the description photos are all inaccurate, look like they were taken decades ago - the satin coverlet on my bed was smelly. When I told the staff they agreed that it smelled weird and that it was because it had never been washed and never would be washed, like the curtains, because you can’t wash that fabric - the wallpaper is old, sagging, and held up with tape - piles of old newspapers everywhere, much of the hotel used for storage I could go on, but in summary: dirty, barely inhabitable, staff that act like you’re staying in their house, should not be listed on Hotels.com, should be made to update all photos. STAY AWAY
Dust along the room edges, taped up wallpaper

Didn't sleep very well - there is a central lounge area right outside the rooms and people were sitting out there until late being very loud. Basic facilities. It's OK but the noise issues really detracted from the visit.

Good and bad fixes!
I've stayed here in the past. This is definitely not "upscale" but is an example of a home/hotel in the Hutang areas of Beijing. This is an area of narrow alleys and there is a lot of history here. That said, it is also an area that is easy to get lost in. This particular hotel uses a home with a courtyard as the basis to form a hotel. The rooms can be comfortable, and I believe they are all ensuite. The staff is very helpful - just ask, although best if you speak a little Chinese...The asst manager was able to fix my cell. That was a big plus for me. On the other hand he thought that a taxi would show up and take me to the airport. I think I would still be waiting if I believed that. Instead I grabbed my best walking shoes and went to the Airport Express, which goes through a nearby subway station.

Nice and small hotel located in charming hutong area. Good location. Close MRT station (10 min walk). Close shopping and walking distance (15min) to bus stop to Great Wall (Bus 877). Hotel small, room small but for a short stay I had (3 days) did the job

Very unique experience to allow you to go back to 500 years ago. Pro: 1) Close to "Luo Gu Xiang" with go food to eat. 2) Very clean room with modern bathroom with good AC. Con: Not easy to be accessed by car or taxi. You need to carry your luggage through 20 minutes of HuTong walk. I am sure back packer like this idea.

Do Not Stay Here- I never give bad reviews
For any price, that room would be not worth it. The walls had tape keeping the wallpaper up. It rained while I was there for the one night I had to stay there and there was a huge leak that leaked onto the bed. Mosquitos were everywhere. The room smelled horrible. And the wifi did not reach the rooms.

Boutique chineese style hotel in a very attractive historic neighborhood. The only negative thing was the internet speed. Welcoming staff, AC in room, perfect location.

Cozy and Unique Experience in the Hutongs
This hotel gives you a unique opportunity to experience life in the old beijing quarters, the so called hutongs. It is an absolutely amazing experience that majes you blend with the locale who live there. The area is extremely quiet and locals are friendly, still it is very centrally located on n Beijing. There are plenty of local cafes and restaurants. Also some small grocery shops and bakery or so, where the locals buy food. Area is extremely safe day and night. Two metro stations are easily reachable in 10 minutes of walking distance. The hotel itself is small, with no more than 10 rooms arranged around an indoor court. My room was simple, but very comfortable, with western-style toilet. Shower is not enclosed, as typical of most Asian countries, so the bathroom floor gets wet when taking a shower. Not a big deal at all, though. Room comes with AC, which also acts as heater in winter (it kept NY room perfectly warm when outside the temperature reached -15C during my stat in Jan.). The hotel is run by a local family, who is welcoming. They speak little English, but the know how to communicate effectively also using some handy translator app. I definitely recommend if you want to have a more intimate and real experience of Beijing.

Only okay for budget holiday
It's okay for a budget holiday, but not good if you're on business or need to get things done. No restaurant or breakfast, although the CheapTickets description says these exist. It's located in alleyways, you must walk 10 minutes to a busy intersection to find a taxi-and taxis rarely stop in this location. Day staff doesn't speak English & cannot help with taxis, or much else. Sheets in need of replacement. However, staff was friendly, rooms were clean enough, safe location.

There was lots of blood on the bedsheets.
The location was good. But we were very upset with the cleanliness. There was lots of blood on the blanket. It seems like they didn't change the bedsheets from the last client. We talked with the reception about the situation, their attitude upseted us even more.

A nice cosy hotel in Beijing
nice hotel, beautiful courtyard, the two bedrooms we had were nice but it is a shame we paid a very different price from one night to another for the same type of room.

Stayed here overnight in June. Enjoyed wondering around the alleys past traditional Beijing courthouses (many have probably not changed much in the last century, and stubbornly resist the influence of globalization). It was a short walk to the metro to see the Forbidden City. Given my budget, it was unexpected to stay in a hotel with a courtyard, traditional architecture, and such friendly staff. The room was large and relatively comfortable, with some antique furniture.

Not for business travelers
This is not a hotel for business travelers. The hutong area is charming, though, and great for walking about. The area lights up in the evening. The hotel, however, is just a guest house and is over-priced. If you are lucky, you will find a staff member who speaks English. On my last day, the WiFi wandered in-and-out, which was very annoying.
