Great Location
Stay in Whitley Bay each New Year and tried the Royal for a change. It's ok, comfortable, nice staff, comfortable clean room but a little dated. I would stay here again.

Friendly B&B in great location
Lovely, cosy B&B in an excellent central location on the promenade. Friendly and welcoming staff and a tasty breakfast included. Hotel is under renovation, but room was cosy and comfortable.

No sea view and cold
We were welcomed nicely. Got to our room witch we paid extra for sea view on entering room there was no sea view due to windows being sheeted up with scaffold so could not see out of window and room was freezing as heating didn’t work. So they moved us to another room which was bigger and still cold and also windows covered up so could not see the sea through window. It’s quite bad when you pay extra for a sea view and don’t get a sea view.

Staff were very good. Helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent. Bed comfy but room freezing cold as were the corridors. We were given an extra heater. Shower was mouldy. Rooms need refurbishing. Hope it’s not just the front being done.

Cold Breakfast
Room was OK a bit small but OK as a single room Bathroom was alright and could get the shower to a decent temp. There is no lift and elderly people may struggle with cases. all the staff were nice. Breakfast Cereals Fruit Juice Tea or Coffee Toast Jam and Butter but the breakfast had been out too long only the Sausages were hot the rest Bacon Hash Brown Mushrooms Tomato was cold on all days. under infa red lights. I was down early and just cooked too much off too soon I know it is a pain to batch cook or to just put into microwave dishes then give them a flash in the microwave.

The room was clean and tidy and lucky for me the room was fairly noise free. As I was playing in a chess Congress which was over the weekend.i could not fault the staff as they were very friendly and outgoing.Breakfast was very good and have not had any other issues . Well done Team as I had a nice relaxed stay.

Hotel is being refurbished at the front but my room at the backn was spotlessly clean with Tv and tea/coffe facilities. Breakfast in the morning starts at 6.30am which is great for those of us that are working

Weekend break...
We were given a room that felt dirty, I asked to swap the staff obliged and were really attentive. The hotel is run down but undergoing refurbishments which are really needed, the area is lovely the staff are great but the hotel itself is in dire need of a clean and refurb, not sure if we would go back as there are other options in the area that look much nicer
