I didn't expect much coming here. I needed a bed and WiFi but all I got was a bed. The room smelled like wet dog and had spots of mold in the corners. Showers were very tiny with pieces broken.

Budget hotel - did the job :-)
Stayed in a twin room with no bathroom, room was adequate for 1 night, however the sink was out of order and it didn't feel particularly clean. Shared bathrooms were ok. Great parking and was only a one night stop on our tour of Iceland. Nice restaurant down the road and breakfast was included which was great.

Oldschool old school :)
Lovely experience to stay in an old school with all the photographs of people who used to study and live there. A bit like staying in a museum. Breakfast was fantastic for the price:)

What a fun experience.
This was a really cool place to stay and was a really fun experience. I thought I would be uncomfortable with the shared bathroom but honestly it was fine. We were able to run out in the field at 1am to see the northern lights, and during the day you could see the ocean. It was really close to a pretty amazing waterfall, that you are able to walk to the top. Would definitely stay again.

Bathrooms are often dirty. Guesthouse is mostly noisy till midnight. We had room 35B and the toilet next to it had the sink broken. Had to go all the way to the other side to wash hands. The only good part is the proximity to Skogafoss.

2/10 Poor

I did not like that in pouring rain and 36 mph wind gusts ,after hauling our belongings into the building, we were told we are in the annex. Had to go back out and drive to the annex and back out in the rain and wind! One men’s and one woman’s bathroom shared for 10 rooms, 2 shared showers. Tiny room- which was clean. Breakfast buffet was good.

The property appeared to be an old dorm and the rooms had the feeling of being back in university. The room was clean and spacious. The bed sheet was very thin though and you could easily read the name of the mattress through the sheet. The buffet had lots of options which included a variety of fresh fruit which we really appreciated. Our main criticism was the showers. They were not clean - a pile of hair was in the drains and hairs on the shower walls and the floor was dirty - it needed a good scrub with bleach. We did a long hike that day and returned around 4:00 and went for a shower assuming they had been cleaned after everyone checked out by 11:00 am but we were very disappointed.

This is a youth hostel, not a hotel! Bathrooms are shared, and that is not mentioned in the description!

This was a very nice hostel for our family to stay in. We booked a family room and it was quite large for the 4 of us. The breakfast was typical Iceland breakfast and very tasty, the staff were very attentive to keep things well supplied. The building is a fascinating old boarding school and the pictures of the students were intriguing. The exterior of the building was a little rundown, but the location and price was great. We LOVED how close it was to Skógafoss, Seljavallalaug Swimming Pool and Vik. A very economical place to be! ,

The water has a very strong sulfur smell and leaves a slimy feel behind. The breakfast was all cold (including the oatmeal, sausages, omelettes/ eggs). The rooms and bathroom facilities are all clean and well maintained.

This guesthouse was the worst one of the 9 during our trip. There were only two showers for the building, one was closed. The water pressure was very weak. The downstairs bathroom lights did not work so there was one men’s toilet and two women’s for the building. The number to call the front desk receptionist didn’t work, we got lucky and a cleaning guy was there to get her for us quickly. The next guests had to wait about 30 minutes. They waited so long they knocked on our door (the closest to the desk) to see if we knew how to reach her. There was no room to do laundry, the only way to store food was a MINI fridge everyone shares in the common room. If you don’t care about all that and your only goal is to sleep and leave, you’re out of luck too. Maybe some rooms aren’t just bunk beds, but our room was 3 bunk beds. None of us cared about that but they were all so squeaky any movement at all would cause the bed to squeak. We had 5 people for the 3 bunk beds. The person by himself tried to sleep on the top bunk. Even when he wasn’t moving, the bed would still subtlety squeak. The place was clean, but that’s the bare minimum. The only saving grace was how close it was to a waterfall but that waterfall has its own hotel and restaurant attached, I believe it’s Skógafoss. Just spend the extra money and stay somewhere else, maybe if it’s just 1 or 2 guests your sleeping arrangements would be better. I’m not sure, but what we got was the size of a dorm room, for 5 people.
