I was really looking forward to my stay at this hotel. Unfortunately it turned out to be spectacularly unimpressive. It's one of those places that believes it's own publicity but in my view fails to live up to it's own standards. The place is just too fussy. Before arrival I had been sent a voucher promising me a room upgrade. I definitely didn't get that upgrade. I'm not actually sure I even got the room I booked. The room was cold, the pillows were paper thin and the blackout curtains were not even big enough for the window they claimed to black out. Wifi is very poor. Fitness centre is too hot. To reach the room I had to use 3 lifts. Apparently I had a €10 food and beverage voucher at my disposal. The reception staff knocked €3.70 off my bill - the price of a bar of chocolate which according to the room service menu is €4.50. They also tried to bill me for 4 breakfasts when I had in fact eaten none. Yes, the place is comfortable and clean. Yes, the decor is tasteful and well presented, but overall this hotel is severely lacking in charm and comfort. There are very many hotels in the Hamburg area which are far better at giving guests what they want with the minimum of fuss than this hotel seems capable of doing. If you really must choose your pillow from a list including cherry stone, flax, horse hair etc. then be my guest but it's not for me I'm afraid. Me, I just want a medium-firm pillow, and the hotel I am in right now has provided exactly that. Without any pretence.
