The Mitre hotel.
The hotel is clean and the staff are welcoming. The food is good. It is within easy walking distance to the town. The big problem is parking. I parked outside the hotel and risked a ticket. The staff did warn me but alternative parking is a long way away.

Warm & friendly
The Inn is in a fabulous location next to the train station and within walking distance to the castle, town and river. The staff, especially Leslie were very friendly and the included breakfast was amazing with lots of choices.

After a slight mix up on arrival due to me booking through hotels.com with my Tesco vouchers and the hotel having to search their computer for the booking we soon got registered and shown to a lovely clean and comfortable room We ate an evening bar meal which was really tasty then went for a walk up to the castle eventually ending up at the worlds end pub and Sundays open mike night The breakfast the following morning was both substantial and delicious If we ever go back to knaresborough we wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again

Booked a 2 night stay at this hotel using my tesco vouchers. Upon check in we were informed that the hotel didn't take any form of discount vouchers. Even when I showed my e mail with the discounted price for the stay, we were asked to pay the full amount or we wouldn't be able to stay. Anyone booking through hotels. Com using tesco reward vouchers Beware!

Good place to stay in Knaresborough.
We enjoyed our stay, modern rooms were very comfortable and spacious. Food, especially breakfast, was very good. A sign or advice that breakfast room is down stairs is required. Sadly staff shortages and lack of ability to contact pre our arrival due to phone problems meant our stay was not as smooth as probably normally would have been.

Obnoxious Manager First Impressions!!
First impressions count and my first impression of The Mitre Inn was awful! I was told by the manager that I hadn’t paid and that I needed to pay. I told him I had and that I always pay before I arrive. He told me that with Hotels.com I HAVE to pay when I arrive. Clearly he didn’t have a clue what he was talking about but it didn’t stop him being loud an obnoxious! I showed him my banking app. It showed I’d paid. I showed him the email from Hotels.com. It showed I’d paid. He still insisted I’d not paid!! His logic was I MIGHT have paid Hotels.com but the hotel hadn’t got the money yet!! I said that wasn’t really my problem and that maybe he should talk to Hotels.com! This bloke was just rude and shouty. I very nearly walked away! I had actually met a friend in Knaresborough and she was horrified at the way the bloke spoke to me. The room was lovely and clean though and well appointed. The bathroom was a little dark which might not be a bad thing after a few gins. The following morning when I left I told another manager…I think he might have been the main manager. I told him about his charming manager the night before. He didn’t seem to interested and told me he would be in touch if I hadn’t paid!!! I told him that I HAD! He didn’t seem to give a toss. Not great customer service. Would I stay here again?? Not sure. The bloke was obnoxious. The manager wasn’t much better. I doubt I’ll be back.

Great location for the river, castle and town. Good size room. Equipped with iron and hair dryer. Full English breakfast was very nice and tasty. We parked in the York Place car park which cost £1.60 for 24 hours, which is really good. Bar area was nice. Staff were very helpful and did everything they could to make our stay enjoyable and it was. We’ve had a great time.
