We had an air conditioned castle view room (not all rooms are air-conditioned!) with a great view, but on the weekend the Grassmarket area is really hopping until the small hours, so it can be pretty loud.
Hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating, amenities are good however the restaurant was closed for part of our stay so can’t comment on that.
If you are driving, there is very limited parking behind the hotel through an alleyway, we were fortunate to get a spot.
