The location was great, in the heart of downtown La Spezia. But there is no parking near the property and we got a parking ticket on the second night for parking in a blue-lined parking area. Also, breakfast was non-existent - mini-muffins and donuts. The coffee/espresso machine was not easy to operate and we never got it to work. Air conditioning in one of our rooms was not operating correctly, the room was many degrees warmer than our second room. I told the owner and property manager and both said they checked it and it worked fine...it didn't.

Very, very noisy. Walls are paper thin. Other guests and a group of men downstairs (friends of other guests??) talked in loud voices until well past midnight. Stayed for 2 nights. Both nights were noisy. Also, we reserved a room with private bath but were given a room with hallway bath for first night.

Very disappointed

Rented two rooms and had heat in only one (told manager and she did nothing). It was a cold December and uncomfortable. No wi-fi as promised. No breakfast (only some cheap mini-muffins) and NO COFFEE. Manager absent and I had to initiate all conversation via text message. We are self-sufficient travelers, but get real.... I paid for breakfast and there was NO COFFEE. Parking is rough, but that is the nature of the location.

Do not stay here

I had lots of good experiences in Italy at small inns, unfortunately this was not one of them. Our GPS could not find the street, so we had to park and walk in, once in the area we could find the route for our car. The nearest parking is 20 minutes walk away and costs 20 euros. The clerk was not around at arrival and we texted here and she appeared, she did try to contact us earlier that day, most of our places contacted us well before the time to confirm arrival time. She took our info and left, she did not review the coffee machine and tell us how it works, in the morning we went to make coffee and there were no pods. She appeared after 9, found some pods and took calls and left, we never saw her again. She insisted on running a charge on my Visa for the any extra and the city tax. She actually charged us for the room that we had prepaid, she was aware of this, as I showed her my paid confirmation. Now I have to try and get my money back. The location was good and housekeeping adequate , otherwise this place is a bust.

great location. easy walk to the train station. and central to old area. Just needed a place to sleep after touring around Cinque Terre. great value for the money. Parking garage was close enough and if you wanted to try off street parking there was plenty available. room was clean towels fresh. Staff spoke english. not a requirement but it was very helpful. Just a nice small guest house.

Great stay at MaMa

Our stay at MaMa was really nice. Our rooms were spacious and clean. The position was really great giving us access to restuarants, train station and also the harbour area. We would definitely stay here again

This guest house is in a terrific location near the marina and the old part of the city. People were friendly and the prices were good. Mama Guest House is a no frills operation for travellers who don't need the staff and extra amenities of a hotel. It's clean, modern and comfortable. We would stay here again.
