This has been our go-to hotel for Albany stays for probably a decade. Unfortunately, we have been increasingly dissatisfied with our stays over the past couple of years and this most recent stay unfortunately continued that trend. Let me preface my comments by saying that everyone at the hotel is super friendly and helpful when they can be, but:
Room wasn't ready until after 4. Very disappointing after a long day of shopping.
Mattress and pillows are really uncomfortable. This has been a long standing complaint of mine. I'm pretty sure I'm sleeping on the original mattress from when the hotel was built and the pillows become flat as soon as you put your head on them.
Breakfast was dreadful. My wife and I have literally ordered the same breakfast since we started coming to the Renaissance and have watched it go steadily downhill. This is not an inexpensive breakfast and I wouldn't mind the price except when my pastrami hash, eggs and fingerling potatoes is a pile of cold, rubbery meat(?), cold scrambled eggs and what I can only guess is last nights mashed potatoes that someone tried to unsuccessfully reheat.
We talked about the place on the way home and we're really struggling with coming up with a reason to return.
