The hotel overall was fine. There was no attempt to clean the room by room service over our multiple days stay, but we lived.
The issue we had was the fact that the hotel pool had been closed for "weeks" prior to our stay, and we had no idea. It figures that we selected this site specifically for its vicinity to the zoo (we were visiting Columbus for my 5-year-old daughter's birthday) and this site's access to a pool. My daughter was excited for the entire month leading up to the weekend so she could go swimming during our 3-day stay.
Apparently, there was a fire at the pool site a few weeks prior to our arrival. This was not reflected on the website during the time of our booking. We had already checked in by the time we saw the printed piece of office paper at the front desk informing us that the pool was closed, and it would be too late to cancel our booking and receive a full refund.
If we had known prior, we would have changed our booking to a similar hotel with a pool. While I get that this might not be the biggest deal to most people, this was a lot of money to spend on a site that did not represent what we intended to purchase, particularly when this was something specific that we were searching for.
There was ample time to inform us that the booking that we made did not match what was advertised on Hotels.com. No emails or anything. Hearing that this incident occurred weeks prior to our arrival was incredibly disappointing.
