Had a lovely stay here for a couple of nights while traveling Japan. The hosts are very welcoming and told us all the good places to eat and what to see in the local area.
The little town is nice and quiet, with some wonderful locals, always eager to help.
Some great places of natural beauty nearby, a hike or bus up the mountain to see the snow monkies, and the hot spring baths were very relaxing.
The building itself is very old, and is an excellent choice for those looking to see a more traditional, rural side of Japan (this is not your flashy, Las Vegas style hotel. If you're looking for plastic and squeaky clean, this may not be for you).
I would certainly visit here again, if given the opportunity.
