I didn’t realize that I had booked a condo when making the reservation and was pleased to discover that it was a really nice apartment with full kitchen and washer dryer. The bathrooms were clean but dated (this place is about 40 years old).
I don’t know who makes the decision (owner or property manager) but my only complaint is about the lighting. Whoever orders the bulbs needs to go on Amazon and choose from a vast array of cheap, warm color, LED bulbs and replace the crap found in this apartment. Old, spiral fluorescent bulbs were the order of the day in every lamp, and it made the place feel like an off campus student apartment. It doesn’t cost much to buy three-way, LED, warm tone bulbs for the bedroom and living room lamps. Nothing screams cheap like a one way fluorescent bulb in a three-way lamp socket. The bedroom also had some sort of track light with the same terrible bulbs.
It was great to have the kitchen; a nearby supermarket enabled us to bring in breakfast items, and even at Hawaii supermarket prices, it was cheaper and more convenient to have breakfast
in.
I didn’t note when booking that none of these apartments have air conditioning. There is great cross ventilation, and we were never hot in the least, but there is a good deal of humidity. Also, keeping the drapes open at night in the bedroom to allow airflow puts you on display to everyone in adjoining buildings and the parking lot.
It would be nice if check-out time were 11am, not 10.
