We really like the Village Hotel in Edinburgh however I disagree with Hotel guests having to pay for “Parking “.

I have received a phone call from the reception at a village hotel Edinburgh at 7.30pm on the 13th of September informing me about the issue with room that I have booked and that unfortunately there is. I room for me. When I have asked staff member if they can find the alternative option for me I’ve been told the best way is to look myself and contact hotels.com to arrange refund. This is very disappointing service. After travelling and working since 4am the last think you expect is to try to find the hotel late evening. I was forced to stay in poor quality guest house at that stage. I would appreciate refund and credit toward my account for the inconvenience

Comfy room, clean, nice breakfast, one of the better village hotels and we have stayed in 6 different locations with them, modern and well maintained.

Room was a decent size and was comfortable and clean. There is no phone in the room to call reception so we downloaded the app - took a long time tot get new towels, more tea bags and more toilet roll! It wasn't until the following morning that our messages were picked up from the app. We ate in the restaurant which was nice but pricey and limited choice. We used the app to order, however, one of the beers wasn't available so nothing was brought over. When we asked, they said it was out of stock but would swap it. We booked to use the swimming facilities in the evening (only slot left) but were not made aware before booking that the jacuzzi and sauna would be out of use as they were being cleaned, there was no visible sign and we were shouted at by a staff member to say that they were closed. We were also told upon entering that we needed to be out earlier than thought and felt rushed the whole time to get out of the pool. As we got out of the pool, earlier than asked to, the lights were switched off immediately. We had paid extra to use the spa facilities but were unable to enjoy that experience. We had to use towels from our room and told they would be replaced, however, had to wait until the following day before any came, by which time we had already needed to have morning showers. We have stayed at Village hotels before but this time was not enjoyable.

When we arrived it seemed a good choice at the time but as time passes we were very disappointed at the service we had for example on our final night we went to book a table for our evening meal as a resident we were informed that the restaurant was full we had to go to reception to get toilet roll for our room no cleaning whatsoever we had to book our hourly slot for the pool not very good better service in a premier inn.

We have stayed at this hotel multiple tiimes and would have thoroughly recommended it this time will be the last for us. We were not advised at check-in that our room would not be serviced we came back to the hotel after al long day to find our beds unmade and dirty coffee cups and coffee etc not replenished so none for the next morning. We went down to have a drink and after a length of time someone came to check us in to the bar restaurant she made us feel like we were naughty children for not having booked even although we were residents. She then lead us to a table where she informed us that we could only get food or drinks if we downloaded the app on our phones which we were not prepared to do so we had no way of getting anything to eat or drink. Level 0 i don't think so. This hotel is taking your money and not delivering the service.

A lovely hotel, immaculately clean and lovely staff. The only negatives were parking is extra but external gym users seem to get their parking for free. Also, the breakfast was very boring, no fruit, yoghurts or continental style foods, however there is a Starbucks in the reception area for toast, tea and a croissant which is much better value.

Upgraded room was poor with no coffee maker as we are used to in Village hotels. Breakfast finished at 9am which is unsuitable for a couple on a break and the breakfast manager was surly and uninterested. The only time I saw him liven up was when he was ripping off the restaurant so he had no more customers to engage with

Nice modern, clean rooms. Plenty of parking space but i don't think hotel guests should have to pay for parking. The self checking in system is a complete waste of time and usually has to be completed by the receptionist. I've stayed at lots of village hotels and all pretty decent. Just get rid of the paid parking for guests and the self check in system.
