Nice escape for a couple of days

Alex hotel is located in the center of Zermatt. I came to this hotel because of the SPA as i don't ski, it was nice alternative, they have a large pool where it's possible to swim properly when there are not many people. Hotel is conviniently located close to the main station and main street of Zermatt. My room was quite small, in general overrated, but it was clean and confortable bed. The breakfast was excellent. However during Covid it was not possible to bring a guest for the dinner at the restaurant- this is inconvenient.

Had half board, the food was excellent. Spa and pool facilities great, massages were fantastic. The lounge area was decorated in Swiss style, with friendly bar staff, and a great venue for apres ski and Pre dinner drinks. Hotel bus picked us up from the bus drop at bottom of village and dropped us off at 05:30 am. Bedrooms spacious, comfortable and clean.

The staff, the swimming pool/jacuzzi, staff, breakfast, and dinner (I had half-board which included breakfast and dinner) were outstanding. The two servers who primarily served me dinner, Juan and Augustus were amazing. If i am visiting Zermatt this is where i will always stay.

Loved Hotel Alex

We absolutely enjoyed our time at Hotel Alex as well as the town of Zermatt. The atmosphere and ambiance of the Hotel along with the family feel and conversation with the staff great. I can't wait until we can come back to to Zermatt and we will most definitely stay at Hotel Alex again!!

Really beautiful and well appointed older hotel. However, they have failed to update the rooms - old carpets, drapes and beds with uncomfortable pillows. Dinner staff was also very rude telling my wife we could not dine on their 160 euro per person buffet because she didn't have the right footwear - while their restaurant had no customers! (its no wonder). Instead we spent our dinner money at a nice steak place nearby. This is a family "resort" so really surprised they would employ such arrogance and run off business that way. The rest of the staff / owners were otherwise helpful. Would recommend this destination as its so cute inside and very close to the train terminal. But they need to invest in some upgrades to the very old rooms and customer attitudes if they want to stay in business.

Great Location.

The most beautiful breakfast room. Extensive, Well diversified wine cellar. Dinners are excellent. Comfortable beds. Rooms have a lot of wood work.
