I rarely write reviews let alone poor ones but I can’t recommend anyone stay here! We wanted to test it before recommending to our wedding guests looking for hotels in the area and so glad we did. A terrible nights sleep the bed was SO uncomfortable, lumpy and hard and the pillows were ancient. Genuinely the worst we’ve ever had and we are usually able to sleep anywhere. Facilities very shabby and barely any staff to be found at breakfast and the bar - we could have looked past that if the bed was ok but honestly, do not stay here. Marking a 2 stars as at least it was cheap and the shower was good

Ufford seems like it could be a great place to stay and while I did enjoy my time there, a few gripes really marred the experience. Firstly the room felt tired and worn out. Bedclothes smelt musty and unwashed. The plug in the bath didn't work and had to operated with a spoon. The taps wobbled. A little TLC would go a long way. The room tea and coffee were enough for one cup each. The real kicker though was the breakfast service. Utterly chaotic, with staff milling around and no sense of control, each instruction or assistance came from other exasperated hotel guests. The hot breakfast items were taken away half filled are people were trying to get to them. The coffee machine was broken with a queue of 20 people while a number of staff hid behind the bar. I didn't bother going on my 2nd day. More importantly. The staff do not make you feel welcome at all. They avoid eye contact and there is no sense of management presence at all. Maybe this was an Easter weekend issue. But a great hotel is the people who work there.

The room was fine. The pillows & bed were not that comfortable. I told the receptionist that each time we had a shower, a large pool of water was on the floor! Hotel facilities were superb. However, there were a few things that weren't working in the pool. We had a massage which was superb - thoroughly recommend. We eat in the restaurant both nights; food was OK. Thought the fish & chips was greasy and chips not very appetising. Saturday meal was a bit better. The breakfast staff were superb. However, they were rushed off their feet and it didn't help that the coffee machine broke down both days!! The coffee wasn't that great anyway! So, a great weekend but we won't be visiting again.

Quiet and comfortable golf and spa retreat - golf, spa and gym are great. Restaurant did good food too. Hotel is slightly dated but doesn't affect the experience.

Breakfast was good, though staff weren't clearing tables so a big queue soon built up. Problems with the coffee machine slso meant we had to go without. Room was clean and spacious. A lot of areas in the spa were out of order so it was basically a pool & sauna. Service in restaurant was poor and extremely slow. Food was generally good but not as described on the menu eg banoffee icecream was actually vanilla, and cherry cheesecake was actually strawberries & raspberries, neither of which was mentioned on ordering. But the worst was that one of our party had a large piece of greaseproof paper in their chicken pie. This meal was deducted from the bill but wasnt removed from the table and no substitute offered.

This was a short break for My wife and daughter as a treat. The staff were not engaged at all and the service at breakfast each day was very poor. They had to ask for bowls for cereal and the pastries had run out mid way through service and had to get more prepared. Staff were not visible and tables left for long periods of time before eventually being cleared. They seemed very uninterested in making the stay a pleasure for the guests. The one main dinner they had was adequate but not good. The swimming pool changing rooms were not clean with toilets out of order and the smell of drains, towels very thin. No shampoo in the rooms and curtains that didn't drawer easily. Towel rail was stained and looked old. The general condition of the room and hotel in general was poor. I booked a deluxe room but it didn't look very deluxe. It seemed like they were constantly penny pinching and suggested the resort is under serious financial pressure. The mud treatment they booked was not worth it as the mud product was too dry and didn't spread across the skin. Most ended up on the floor as it dropped off. All in all it was not the treat I hoped to give my wife and daughter and I am disappointed to have used my one key cash on it.

All the staff we spoke to were friendly. The pool was a real treat. The room was comfy enough, but could have been cleaner (snack crumbs under the table and obvious cobwebs) and some of the public areas could have been cleaner. There was plenty of choice at breakfast, which was good.
