Arrived about 10 years too late for this hotel. You can see that in its prime, the experience was likely truly 5 star. It seems the room decor has been updated, though some original amenities are no longer functioning/available such as the in-suite fireplace; the non-stocked mini bar; and the lack of working outlets. Though, overall the room was clean, comfortable, and quiet.
The front desk service and concierge were excellent - friendly and knowledgeable, and the escort to the elevator was a bonus.
The issue was with the lounge/restaurant experience. The waitstaff started out strong but then quite literally disappeared. I can certainly understand staffing shortages during post-pandemic times, but the service was truly atrocious and not a team I would want representing ANY property. After a 40 minute wait to settle our check after giving up on wine, dessert, or really any beverages (had to go to the hotel lobby to get a glass of water to have with my cold meal), I finally had to ask the front desk, not once, but twice to call the back of house for our server. Clearly, there were some "back of house" conflicts/tension going on as the servers (when we initially saw them) were very agitated. And when our server finally arrived (we had given up and started to head to our room at that point), she was extremely rude and discourteous and actually laughed at us and the issue we experienced.
I will say, Morris (the manager on the next day) was stellar with regards to this issue.
