I really wanted this hotel to be the place I returned to every time I return to Aruba. The location is great and it’s low key. Aruba is beautiful and amazing! But….
My first room had a leak in the bathroom ceiling not once, but twice and they finally moved me on the second complaint. The repair man spent an afternoon in my room while I was there during the first leak, dirtying the bathroom with the repair and still did not fix the problem. The second room did not give me a better view and did not have a shower that drained well. I was not offered anything for the inconveniences, especially of having to pack my things in the middle of my vacation to relocate to a lesser room. Also during the afternoon, if others on the floor were also using the water, my shower would lose all water pressure and run at a trickle. Very challenging when you’re trying to wash off sunscreen and get ready for dinner. The front desk cannot break change for the vending machines. They send you across the street to the bar which is also hesitant to make change. And then the vending machines don’t work. And when you call for room service, they tell you they are too busy to offer the service. This is terribly inconvenient when it’s Sunday after 8pm and nothing is really open to eat except the neighboring hotel’s Sbarro pizza.
I was very close to changing hotels in the middle of my vacation. I will return to Aruba and Eagle Beach and all the wonderful restaurants, but not the Amsterdam.
