This is a 1950’s- era motel with smaller rooms, tiny bathrooms, and minimal amenities. Rooms were clean. No fitness room, average outdoor pool, no hot tub. There is an adjacent bar/grill and you can get limited food ordered at window next to pool. Coffee is available in the morning by the front desk. Bath towels seemed to be in short supply as we had to request fresh bath towels two days as we did not receive new ones. Staff though are very friendly and they quickly try to handle any requests. Conveniently located near airport, between Sarasota and Bradenton and plenty of free parking. Overall it was Ok but I would not call it a resort.

Husband sunk into bed/ almost rolled off in the middle of the night due to how sunk down the beds are. Condition of the property is okay, definitely could use updating (cracks in bathroom tile).

This was one of the worst places ever. For starters, the front desk clerk tried to deny my granddaughter‘s service pet by saying that people with PTSD/anxiety do not need service dogs they have emotional support animals when in fact that is far from the truth. She told me that I would need to find another place for the animal to stay. I went outside and told my granddaughter what was said and my granddaughter became hysterical. Thankfully, her dog was there to calm her down. I called the office and spoke to the front desk, clerk again and told her that the dog was in fact, a service dog and should not be denied access to the property. I also told her that my granddaughter became hysterical when I told her the dog couldn’t stay. The woman then stated that she would alert everybody that the dog is a service dog, but never once apologized for denying the dog in the first place or for causing my granddaughter to have a breakdown. Then, at about 1:30 in the morning, my phone rings. I woke up from the phone ringing, but did not answer it because I didn’t want to wake my granddaughter or my husband up so I let it go to voicemail. Next, comes a text stating that a dog was found and they wanted to know if it was my dog. It’s a trained service dog, so why would they call me or text me in the middle of the night to ask me if that dog belonged to me? The place was equivalent to a Days Inn. A motel, not a resort or a hotel. It was also dirty and smelled musty. I checked out after 1 day

No TV service available, air conditioner was on full speed 60 degree room and the door rattled from it , turned it down and then did not work. Walls thin we could hear people yelling and swearing outside. Stayed before flying out in the morning did not get much sleep.

The room had a smell to it. The lighting was horrible. One of the outlets was not working so I had to plug my curler somewhere else. There was only two towels to dry ourselves. The AC did not work thank God I had my own fan and for the price that I paid for it was definitely not worth it. I do not recommend anyone staying there.

We decided to stay at the Golden Host Resort based on the many, many 5 star reviews and were a bit disappointed. Our room was very clean and the bed was Super Comfortable. We asked for an extra blanket and pillow and this was provided instantly. We didn’t use the pool, but it looked refreshing with a nice grassy area surrounding it and plenty of chaise lounges to relax. With that said, reviews talked about this hotel’s retro vibe. Other than the blue retro mini fridge and microwave, the room and setting were average, ordinary, but sufficient. If you’re looking for a clean simple place to stay, the Golden Host hotel is great. If you’re seeking a unique, unusual, retro vibe, you might be disappointed.
