The hotel location is secluded unlike Ixtapa where u find more restaurants and shops. This hotel lacks a clean beach but offers things like the nearby port that takes people to the island and the gator habitat. If you rather enjoy pools over a beach this is a good choice. Otherwise it is not.

We reserved 2 rooms one for my parents and one for us. On our first day after having dinner we walk in to our room 1724 and it was flooded with water after the maintenance person checked the problem he claims the air conditioner was full and that is why it started dripping water from the ceiling. 2 days later we walk in again from dinner and the room is flooded of water again. I call the reception desk and they started giving me excuses that didn’t make sense. At our check out I asked to talk to the manager Julian Rojo he wouldn’t come out to talk to me after waiting minutes I asked the attendant at front desk Jesus Sanchez to check on how much time will it take him and he asked if he could call me to discuss the issues I had. I left him my phone number he never called me back. The treatment they give their guest is not the same as other places I have been to. Staff is very unfriendly and cold. I would rather travel to Cancun instead next time.

Drinks were more diluted than usual. I didn’t like that I couldn’t serve my own food. I had to ask for creamer and sugar each time I ordered coffee and the beach was extremely dirty.

The facilities are in good shape, the service was very good, and the buffet food was ok (Nothing special). If you want to spend your vacation staying at the pool area is a very good option. The pools are great, specially the kid's. If you are a beach person, it might depend on the season, but in September the beach is impossible to use. The beach was very dirty due to the rainning season. The a la carte dinner was amazing, very very good. To use the beach we had to go to Playa La Ropa, which was in good condition.

I have been coming to Ixtapa for over 20 years and was not aware this property was even here. We have always stayed south of the Marina on the hotel "strip". I was very pleased with this resort and I have been to many others so I feel qualified to give my opinion. Food quality at buffets can be challenging for resorts and I thought the Azul food quality was above average. The sit down restaurants were nice too and the menus had varied cuisine. I enjoyed every meal. We were a little turned off with the restaurant reservation process that limited us to only 3 nights but we made do. Hotel staff were extremely nice and accommodating, both wait staff and room cleaning service. The towels and wash clothes in the room were very rough. We would have preferred softer towels for drying off after all day sun from being around the fabulous pool. 2 separate levels with fountains and tanning shelves. We never had any problems finding chairs around the pool, a problem at many other resorts. It was right on the ocean, beautiful beach and all rooms boats an ocean view. We were on the 7th floor and the view was just fantastic. Overall, on a scale of 1 to 5, I would rate this resort a 4.5.

Overall this is a good resort property. I would recommend it for families as there is an amazing water park for children. The other pool areas are impressive as well. The buffet food was decent but got a little tiring after 5-7 days. They usually had Italian and Mexican themes and sometimes changed it up and offered Asian or BBQ. There are 2 a la carte restaurants that require advance reservations. One is fine dining and the other is fish/seafood at a beautiful restaurant built along the shoreline. Two of us are vegetarian and we found that the choices were somewhat limited but we never went hungry. The beach does not have good sand, it's more like clay. The waves are fairly tame making them suitable for children to play in. Sailing and kayaking are offered free of charge. Our room was comfortable and clean with a king bed and chaise lounger and a decent size balcony with a beautiful view. There is no coffee maker or mini fridge. Room service is offered for an extra charge. There are 3 towers. Tower 3 backs onto the convention centre which can be extremely noisy when they have outdoor events and parties. There a number of activities offered each day - zumba, pilates (no yoga), a bike tour through the ecological reserve, archery and aquasize to name a few. Wonderful staff! The Azul is not right in Ixtapa. It's a little further north near Playa Linda and Ixtapa Island. To get to the shopping areas you will need to take the local bus (16 pesos) or a taxi.
