I'll start with the positive, which was some of the staff. Dafne, Antonio, Edgar l, Samuel and Efren deserve special recognition because of their friendliness and willingness to help improve our experience.
What I didn't like? The room. I splurged for this quick getaway because my sister and I had been working so hard that we wanted to treat ourselves to something nice that was also kid-friendly for my toddler nephew.
When we got there, our room was ready but there was a problem with the swim up pool. We were told maintenance would need an hour. In the meantime, we were given a hospitality suite. Very nice gesture from Dafne. Two hours in and we still don't have a room, however, and now the token to get into hospitality suite doesn't work anymore.
Samuel came and replaced the battery but it was now three hours and no update on our actual room. We went downstairs to grab something from the buffet and found Antonio, who is an incredible staff member, who told us our room was finally ready.
Once we got in the room, I was a bit disappointed. I could've gotten over the initial letdown if the room had been better. The walls were scuffed and dirty in the living area near the two photos. The paint was different colors and and sanded out in the bedroom on the wall nearest the pool. You could literally see the spots where the pain just didn't match. The pool area was still dirty with a slice of fruit and the bathroom door handle was broken.
This wasn't at all what I expected.
