Thoughtful service!

My daughter and I visited to celebrate her 13th birthday. After checking into our room, we chatted with the staff about things in New Orleans -- beignets and face masks, what's open, missing the usual parades but planning for a better 2021, etc. The GM was super helpful with recommendations. When we returned from dinner, we found a "happy birthday" card and hotel mug gift in the room. It made her day! Such a sweet gesture.

Authentic doesn't mean Rundown

Phone not working- but the clearly not working phone from the 80s was still on the table, handset disconnected and phone chord ,all 80 feet of it, all over the floor --Sheets dirty- look like a spot of blood sheets had been washed but why would you put that back on the bed? --No wash cloths- when we asked for them there were none a hotel had no clean washcloths? --Heat barely works or works way to well- we froze to death during the day when we were in the room and had to uncover ourselves at night it was so warm. --Dusty- I understand that it's the French quarter and there's some type of ambiance to it but that doesn't mean don't dust or clean around where the floor boards are and so on. just dirty. Carpets dusty. --Doors/switch plates have actual dirt/dirty fingerprints. Gross. --Door very flimsy- Did not feel safe. Wouldn't have wanted to stay if was alone. --Staff in our room unannounced or invited. --Alarm clock next door going off for over an hour. To be clear I know that most of the appeal of this hotel is that it is in the French Quarter but there are several other hotels closer that would be cleaner and you would be happier with. Small note you would think with Mardi Gras being cancelled this year that people would do everything that they could to make people happy that did actually come and spend their money in the quarter there was little to no effort in this establishment. And charged me $1,800 for 4 days in the Louis Armstrong "suite".

New Orleans

It was a great stay. It always is.. I love to stay here when I am in New Orleans. My only issue was luggage storage. I specifically called to make sure it was ok to store my luggage because I arrived well before check in and my flight leaving was well after check out. On the call prior to arrival, I was told no problem. However, my room was available, so I didn't even have to leave it. But, upon checking out, I was told they wouldn't keep it due to Covid. I had to re arrange my entire last day and deal with my luggage until time to go to the airport at 6pm. While, Covid is not your fault and I understand the need for precautions, It is your responsibility to communicate your hotels guidelines and to be consistent. It was a hassle and inconvenient. And luggage storage was one of the key items affecting where I stayed this trip due to my arrival and departure times.

Great place!

The room was good and in a great location. Super close to everything and in a safe area. The shower had a hard time staying hot but other than that it was perfect!

We would try it out again

Our first night here wasn't that great, it was a small room, the bed was squeaky, just not ideal at all. But they received our reviews and changed our room for the second night. Our second room was great. Plenty of space and a tub for my daughter. They were very nice about fixing our accommodations. We would stay here again as long as we get a larger room.
