The hostel it self it’s ok, you can meet people, and the location is comfortable. But as an overall experience we had too many obstacles to have a good time. we stayed first in the dorm of 12 because we didn’t have a booking, and had beds next to the door, was quite impossible to sleep. You could hear the bathrooms noices too.the air con was freezing and the is no blankets. Then private room hot water didn’t work most of the time and we didn’t get a nice treat when we asked, the said we can come shower at the Recepcion/lobby if we wanted, almost like making us a favor. Is too noisy to sleep, and bathroom has no ventilation. The worst was the front desk, check in and check out. Mostly anyone was nice. Specially a girl that didn’t look at my eyes, replied syllabus. So much trouble for everything! And my friends are super kind to say things. I was very disappointed cos I brought my friends here. I wouldn’t come back at all. As a private is still 100 dollars it doesn’t meet the expectations of fun hostels. Oh, and friends from overseas tried to arrange greeting or a paid breakfast to my room and the didn’t get a replay after 4 days, after my bday. Girls at the breakfast were very kind. Wouldn’t like to put them in the same bag!

Not worth the risk of dealing with the unkind service. I was there on my bday and ended up having a dissatisfied time. Facilities are ok but service treat us as they were doing us a favor.

The property sits in the center of everything its between downtown Tulum and the hotel zone of Tulum. The beach is roughly 20 to 30 minutes away by car or taxi and it’s not far it’s literally around the corner but due to traffic it can take that long. Tulum is an awesome place to visit and I have stayed at Mayan Monkey twice now.

Excelente lugar! Estás a la mitad de la playa y a la mitad del centro. Buen servicio, especialmente Carlos, muy atento en todo.

I love the mayan monkey!!! Amazing atmosphere, thankful for the wonderful staff specifically Armando and Chris my favorite bar tenders. The beds are comfortable and private with curtains, lights and a nightstand inside the pods. The pool has great views. Franco keeps the party going!! Breakfast is delicious especially the upgraded omlette for only $3... and the tacos de res are to die for! I keep coming back and have spent so much time here over this year its like a second home to me!

It was a great stay, nice free breakfast. A little more cleaning of the showers would have been appreciated

Everything was good, only thing was that when I checked in the bed they assigned me was dirty and instead of giving me a new cleaned bed they just hurriedly changed the sheet and pillowcase in front of me but did no cleaning or disinfecting of the shelves
