First impression of the hotel was it felt a little dated. However once I settled in I enjoyed my stay, it had all the amenities I needed and was actually more modern than I initially thought. Staff are friendly (especially the doorman, I didn't get his name), checking in and out was a breeze, the bed was exceptionally cozy, and it is very convenient to the convention center across the street.
It's a courtyard style hotel and the dining area can get loud between the music playing during the day and guest chatter -- this didn't bother me at all and I couldn't hear any of it from the bed area, if you are extremely sensitive to noise you may not like this. Personally I did, it makes the hotel feel vibrant. There's a happy hour with complimentary drinks for guests, I don't drink so I didn't partake but that's nice perk for those who do. I didn't take advantage of the breakfast so can't speak to that either.
I booked a business suite, it was a lot of room for one person! The room inexplicably has a bunch of sinks including one separate from the bathroom in the bedroom for some reason? There was also a bar sink. They like their sinks here I guess.
If you are in town for an event at DES Convention Center I definitely recommend giving this place a look. If you want to go into the city you can easily take the hotel shuttle to O'Hare and hop on the Blue Line. I'd absolutely stay here again.
