I recently stayed at Hotel Mint JFK, and unfortunately, my experience was extremely disappointing.
Due to the blizzard, I was unexpectedly stranded in New York and had to extend my stay for four days with my young son. During what was already a stressful situation, I expected at minimum a clean, safe, and restful environment. That was not the case.
From the moment I arrived, the overall cleanliness of the property was unacceptable. The floors, walls, and bathtub in my room were visibly dirty. The hallways and elevator were also unclean, which made the entire environment feel neglected and poorly maintained.
I requested additional towels during my stay and never received them. The staff was unresponsive and did not follow through, which added to the frustration.
There was a strong marijuana odor throughout the hotel during our entire stay. In addition, there were loud arguments taking place in the hallways between 2:00–3:00 a.m. multiple nights, making it difficult to feel safe or get proper rest — especially while traveling with my child.
To make matters worse, the vending/ice machine was not working.
Overall, this was a very unpleasant experience during an already difficult travel situation. I will not be returning, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone — not even in an emergency.
