Rooms are great value, although a little noisy from the restaurant downstairs. Food a little pricey but nice. Staff very friendly.

Lovey setting, room and food highly recommended Trevor

This hotel is very comfortable at a very reasonable price. The rooms have an old worlde feel to them, but with all modern comforts. On top of this, great food in the restuarant downstairs. Some noise comes into the rooms from the restuarant, but it is not too bad and it ends at a reasonable hour. The staff look after you with 1st class service.

The George is exactly what it says it is, a restaurant with rooms, rather than a pub with rooms. I stayed on a Tuesday evening, the restaurant was very busy, this is due to the fact that it’s very good. My room – No 4 – was immediately above the restaurant – this is the same for all the rooms - and you could hear everything said downstairs, this obviously […] recedes after about 10.30pm, so do not expect it to be quiet – but its not like pub noise. The whole place has an old fashioned pub like feel but the décor and fittings are very modern. The room was excellent, big and very comfortable with a double bed, very clean all round with everything you could need, Some real nice touches like a tea-pot and real coffee – don’t see this very often. Bathroom with bath & shower, fresh towels make such a difference. My meal in the restaurant was excellent. Breakfast not served until 8.00am so I had to miss it, I would suggest that for business guests a breakfast could be served from 7.00am - but at their suggestion they did lay a continental out for me. All in all this is a great place to stay with a good restaurant as a bonus, food is reasonably priced, however for me £7.95 is the most expensive cheese and biscuits I have seen to date.
