stopped over for one nigh. the room was ok nothing special but had all I needed. There was a pool and hot tub but never used. I could not get the internet to work. not sure if I would stay again. good value is all i can say

The room was sparse but clean and quiet, the mattress was firm and the price was reasonable. One thing different was that the floors were laminate, not carpeted. I don't think anyone was in the room above me but I wonder, had there been, how noisy would their footsteps have been? Not much in the amenity dept; the shampoo came in packets like ketchup […] in a take-out order of fries and the bars of soap were tiny. Nonetheless, all I wanted was a comfortable bed in a quiet room for a decent price and I got it. Management insisted on having a 200 dollar damage deposit authorized on my credit card.. Yes it is refundable but the authorization often stays on for months. Just try getting a credit card error corrected. Will probably not use Howard Johnson chain unless they are the only rooms in town...

This is a basic motel.. bed linen clean, some fixtures not particularly good..e.g. the pop-up part of the sink didn't work and we question the toilet paper holder being on the opposite side of the room from the toilet? The staff is always very hospitable and friendly and were able to acommodate my coeliac condition by providing fruit for breakfast.

Well it could of been cleaner, smelled like old socks, so the room needed a real cleaning, also when you have the bathroom fan on and there is a smoker outside, it sucks in the smoke. after driving hours in the fog and rain and being late for our event the manager said he would not honour the rate I got and that it was a mistake on the website. For the price this hotel is good value. The manager was very friendly and very willing to please. The manager was also very approachable if any issue arose. The recent renovation of this facility has resulted in the hot and cold taps being installed in reverse.

Our experience at the H.J. Inn, Vernon, BC, was very good. The room was clean with a firm mattress for a good night's sleep. The morning continental breakfast was tasty with good choices. The hosts and staff were very cordial.

The most obvious thing you notice is that some things need to be upgraded. The service of the staff and attractive price certainly make up for this shortcoming. Excellent, helpful staff.

I stayed at this motel in April,2012 and I was satisfied ,however, the last stay in June ,2012 with my experience there I will not be returning to this motel.We had to pay a $200.00 deposit on the room which was not expected we didn't have to pay a deposit in April,2012 in addition we didn't realize the check in time was 3 in the afternoon in April,2012 […] we checked in later in the a.m. and it was no big deal. Plus the room we got was not cleaned well i.e., shower curtain was dirty and the carpet smelt like a kitty litter box. In addition there was a language barrier between customer and office staff which made communication difficult. It was a pleasure to stay at this hotel, the lady behind the desk was just wonderful, so helpful and very pleasant to talk to.The location was wonderful, it had several restaurants around it. The buffett breakfast I was told was super, fresh waffles etc... served from 7 to 10... so very convenient. Would stay again.

The Hotel is badly in need of an overhaul or maybe just a cleaning and painting all furniture is old an in poor condition. bathroom fixtures need to be upgraded will not recomend this hotel to anyone. No good for the price charged.

The room was smallish but had all we needed. Some updates to the room were laminate floors, new granite vanity top and a flat screen tv. Bed was a comfy kingsize. Stayed here for 2 nights over high ski season (Jan 30/31). For a cheap stay it is great. Clean rooms, no real complaints, hot tub was a nice bonus. We did not use the pool but it looked fine.

We arrived post marathon and had a nice swim with our kids and hot tub. Excellent continental breakfast with fresh waffles pleased the kids then they opened the pool early for us to have a swim before we left. Very hospitable!

The hotel was under construction directly below our room. Sawing and harmering was from 7a.m. till 4p.m. the three days we stayed at the HJ. Beds were rock hard and the stay which was suppose to be a well deserved holiday was a nightmare. Hotel manager was very accomodating. We got there early and had a wedding to go to at 3:30. We were able to check in at 11 am. Staff was extremely friendly and very helpful with all our requests. The only thing that needs improving is the plumbing. The toilet didn't flush very well.

We were in town for a funeral and only staying for two nights. The hotel staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very good (make your own waffles), plus a selection of cereals, breads and fruit... fresh and tasty. When I got there was the door did not lock at ALL. The fellow at the desk said he would fix it tomorrow and just to “lift up” on the door when we needed to close it and sort of move it around until it locked… Well I couldn’t physically do that! Fortunately one person I was staying had his drill and tools with him.He fixed the door and adjusted the lock […] and bracket. He did not get a thank you for doing this and he had no choice to do it at the moment because he did not feel comfortable letting me stay in a room where the door would not lock. Next, I went to remove the blankets from the bed it had 4 different kinds of bugs in the bed. They were unbelievably repulsive!! When I went to lift the mattress I found out why they were there. It looked like it was never cleaned under and had plenty of crumbs and food pieces to feed all the bugs I found in the bedThe worst part was when I got up in the middle of the night and this huge disgusting bug that looked like a massive bedbug was on the pillow next to me. Also I left many notes begging the maid to please not put the bug infested blankets back on the bed as I brought my own, and what does she do? Puts them back on and gives me a smug look when I see her. I have stayed at many places in Vernon, and this place is good for a quick visit with the basics. They have a indoor pool and hot tub, and also have a continental breakfast, including a new waffle maker..I would stay here again, and will in the future.
