Excellent value for money in a beautiful setting. Restaurant food very good though the bar area lacked a bit of atmosphere. Overall a first class experience.

Its a lovely place to break a journey on the M6 - the hotel is tucked away in a dip so you have no idea from the hotel that you are so close to the motorway, all you get are lovely countryside views. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed in at this price level. The hotel is well located and very comfortable with friendly and helpful staff and a very welcoming bar with an open fire. The bar meal we had was excellent. Rooms are spacious, attractive and spotlessly clean. It is very quiet given the proximity to the motorway. All of this was undone […] however when it came to breakfast which was truly awful. It is a buffet style system but the food available is not visible so you have already put an egg and mushrooms on your plate before discovering that there is no sausage or bacon. By the time this arrives the rest of your food is cold. The bacon and sausage were also very undercooked, the sausage so much so that I was afraid to disturb it in case it woke up and walked away. I am hoping that this was just a blip on the day and it wont deter us from staying again. However the breakfast experience reduces a 5 star review to just 3 stars on this occasion. . もっと読む

Handy location for the trip to Scotland. The food was very good and the service was excellent.

Although this hotel is set off one of the motorway service station it is so much more than that. The surrounding views are beautiful, the staff are very friendly, and the room (executive room 45) was excellent. We arrived after midnight having been caught up in an accident tailback for several hours and driving through torrential rain but the night […] porter was very friendly and checked us in very efficiently. It was like a safe haven at the end of a difficult journey. Breakfast was very good. One couple with a baby turned up after breakfast was supposed to be finished but the staff just went to see what could be rustled up. In case you were worried there is no noise from the motorway. We just used the hotel as a stop off and went on to Keswick the next day (just over half an hours drive) so i can't comment on what there was to do if you stayed longer. Lovely and inviting Hotel, a good stop on the way to or from Scotland, very quiet being so close to a major highway, the restaurant was very good with great food, the breakfast was also very filling. Would recommend this to all

Excellent hotel; good situation; easy parking, nice setting in the countryside. Welcome at reception was very good. Room was very comfortable; nice bed, good view outside; fluffy towels, clean, light bathroom. excellent breakfast, good choice. Good value. Would definitely stay again.

If you need a break on a trip to Scotland, this is the ideal spot to stop. A good breakfast (not a massive selection, but plenty to go round), but with a stupidly pretty view out to the mountains.

The room was very nice. Coffee bags and drip coffee machine - nice touch. House keeping very accomodating with extra towels & coffee/milk. TV channels were basically terrestrial 5 + 2 or 3 others. We must have passed this by a lot of times on our travels up and down M6 but will definitely stay again now we know about it. Hotel and rooms very comfortable with fabulous food in the restaurant and not too pricey either. Staff are very friendly. Although close to the M6 motorway it is tucked away at the back of the services so enjoys a peaceful location. […] We ate in the restaurant in the evening and enjoyed a great breakfast in the morning. My wife and I loved the Westmorland. It is centrally located between the Yorkshire Dales and the Lakes district on the M6, making it a great base for exploring. The hotel has a great atmosphere - very relaxed - and the views were great. Out our window we saw cattle, sheep, rabbits, and the clearest, most beautiful rainbow we have ever seen. The huge […] windows of the restaurant/breakfast room offer wonderful views of the countryside as well. The staff was friendly and helpful, the fire in the fireplace was warming, and the little bar in the lounge area was great for a nice nightcap. The deluxe room was very comfortable and clean, in fact I would say cosy.I have stayed in many hotels during my lifetime and can honestly say that this was one of the best that i can remember. If i had any complaint at all it would be the price of dinner which i thought was quite expensive. I would definitely stay bed and breakfast again.

We spent a night here before exploring and camping wild in the Lake District, we want a reasonably priced hotel with a relaxed atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a great views - we got all three - rooms were lovely and modern, the hotel was lovely, staff were very helpful and it was just half hour away from where we started hiking, and right on the M6 […] - so easy to get to - but, without the noise - set back away from the motorway, we could have been in the hills. lovely spot and very individual hotel. Scandinavian lodge style and feel. Spacious and comfortable with great local food and excellent, friendly local service. Very relaxing, surrounded by the fells yet 2 minutes from the M6

Very clean and confortable and we enjoyed our meal in your restaurant. The staff were pleasant and attentive. We will certainly visit again.

Excellent start to our holiday in Scotland. Beautiful setting and we enjoyed a lovely meal in the restaurant.. Food was a little on the expensive side but was of very good quality.

Wir haben uns in diesem Hotel als willkommene Gäste gefühlt. Nach unseren Erfahrungen hätte dieses Hotel mindestens vier Sterne verdient.
