There was no hotel staff to assist us with check-in. We recognize that Christmas evening is a difficult time to ask employees to work but hotels are a service industry. We were not impressed that there was no one working at the hotel while we were there. Check-in was done by unlocking a box with the room key in it. We had no idea where the room was, […] though. We were a late arrival and were greeted at the door. Check-in was quickly accomplished and we were on the way to the room. The room was nice and clean, plenty of space, not crowded like some rooms. I was pleased with this hotel. I was nervous because it seems to be an extended stay place. I felt safe. Bed and bath were clean and comfortable. I was on the upper floor, the floors felt weak. We got there late, and it took us a minute to figure out how to get the hotel keys (there is a safe where you have to type in your last name). Overall the room was in good condition and the bed was comfortable. Some of the "common" areas such as the hallway, lobby, etc., are a little outdated, but that's about it. Would stay again.

Upon check-in, we went to eat. Got back and turned down the bed and it was dirty, Hair, stains who knows what else. The desk person brought up clean sheets and I changed the bed. The bathroom floor had powder along the outside of tub, the drinking glasses were dirty and we were very disappointed after telling office manager that she would talk to housekeeping. […] No mention of I'm sorry, how can we fix this, nothing. We were moving from Massachusetts to Kentucky with children and pets (2 dogs, 1 cat, & 2 kittens) so we were looking for a different type of hotel than we usually use. I had never heard of Home-Towne Suites before and I wasn't sure what to expect but they were just what we required. The manager made an adjustment to the pet policy based on our circumstances […] that kept the cost very reasonable. The mattresses are a good compromise between firm and soft so that no one was uncomfortable. Not as good as our own beds but what is when you are traveling? The staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone we spoke with, from desk staff to housekeeping, was willing to take the time to answer our questions and provide advice. Everything from good restaurants to the typical weather for this time of year (there was an uncharacteristic heat wave going on). The kitchenette had a full size refrigerator, a stove, and an oven which saved some money on meals. There are multiple cookout areas with gas grills, nice patio furniture and covered seating. There is a Ryan's buffet across the street and an Waffle House at the end of the road if you are trying to work a budget or traveling with kids and there are more upscale restaurants just five minutes up the road. The only drawback at all was the fact that I was unable to find a place to park my 16' truck with car dolly. There are 3 places in the parking lot for trucks with trailers but we arrived later in the day and those were full. I ended up having to park on the street about 150 yard away but it wasn't too big of a problem since the hotel is not on a heavily trafficked road. Two problems==the room comes with a great little kitchen, including a full frig--but there was only a frying pan and not other pots and pans if you wanted to cook. We left before seven am-no place to leave the key. Had to call the emergency number and he said just leave it in the room==but he was in Tuscaloosa. There is no one available on the property […] before 7 or after 10. When we came to check in there was no one in the office--had to phone and wait. It looked like they had only one person on duty on the whole property. This is the noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in! We could hear every footstep on the floor above us, as well as every slamming door and hallway conversation. Noise began at about 5 am!!

The hotel consists of two buildings; I believe one with the suites and the other with the regular rooms? My family stayed in the suite for purposes of this review. I think it's a great place to stay for the price(got the room for 20% off on special). The only complaints I have would be the stains on the carpet and the rude room service. The housekeepers […] were trying to clean our room before the checkout time and got an attitude when we waited until the check-out time to leave. We were going to Mammoth Cave - stayed here (30 miles away) because no good place available in Cave City that took pets. Got here and front "desk" (it's more of an office) girl says, "oh, no, we have a really high pet fee". I said, "really, we weren't told that and it doesn't state that on Hotels.com". She said they just raised it to 175 bucks because […] of some damage they'd had. I almost turned around and walked out but she said she'd give me the original fee (25) since they'd just changed the policy. So, consider this a "no pets allowed" hotel, for all intents and purposes!! Otherwise, not a bad place. Meant for long stay - people in the office only during business hours, which was weird. The room was a standard hotel room but had a kitchenette where the closet by the front door would normally be, so the only closet was an open bar next to a bed. So, very cramped with 4 adult-sized people and no good place to put luggage. The linoleum floor in the kitchenette/entry and bathroom were very sticky. My hub happened to spill some water, wiped it up w/a towel and the towel was black w/filth! Yuck. Didn't bother to call - we'd taken care of it! lol Beds were comfortable w/nice linens. Our coffeemaker didn't work right and they ran a brand new one right up to us. Everyone very nice! I even left something behind and they said they found it and were boxing it up to mail to us. (Haven't got it yet but here's hopin'!) Also, free access to a health club 2 miles away, but it has limited hours. All in all an okay stay except for the pet fee part. We wouldn't have stayed there if they'd kept to their "new policy". Our stay was a 'stop-over' en route to Chicago, so we needed only a bed and shower. The hotel was fine for those purposes. The room was smallish but had the necessities. There was a small kitchenette and a bathroom with a tub/shower. I would recommend a higher floor, as being on the ground level in that area was somewhat unnerving. Our difficulty was […] in the fact that there are 2 Home-Town Suites located next to one another, which we hadn't noticed when we parked. We entered the older of the two properties after-hours, and the lobby was empty and unmanned. It took nearly an hour of phone calls around the country before an employee came over from the neighboring property (surprise!) to tell us that we should have gone next door to check in. (We, of course, thought that a sign indicating that fact would have been helpful.) The employee, however, was pleasant and apologetic. The area is very convenient to I-65 and riddled with hotels. We arrived late...11:00 pm. The front desk area was closed already. There was a note on the door supposedly telling where to get our key....In the next building. Then they did not say which building our room was in. We unloaded our luggage and the "baby" and began trying to figure out which building to go to and yes, it was not the right one. SO back […] across the parking lot we went. Then of course it is on the second floor...so luggage, baby and all we finally got to our room around 11:30. Great place, but they should have just left our keys in the same building we were supposed to stay in. Is it too much to keep someone there till midnight? This place reeked of cigarettes. I was given a non-smoking room that was disgusting. I was set to find another hotel when they put me in another room that was set apart from the smokers and didn't smell so bad. The hallways, lobby area, etc., all smell. This hotel offers suites with small kitchen area and they allow your pets to stay with you. This was exactly what I was looking for. Only had a one night stay but surroundings were very quiet and friendly. Had a great residential area to walk the dog. My husband and I came in for WKU Homecoming with our 2 dogs. Not many places in Bowling Green let you have pets anymore and this hotel was by far the nicest of the ones that did. We were pleasantly surprised even though we stayed in the "older" section. Better for an extended stay than an overnight, but worth the money. Kitchenette was properly stocked and the room was a nice size. Would stay there again.

Only @ 15 mintues from beech bend. Close to everything we needed...grocery, restaurants and liquior store. Exactly what we needed and what we expected.

For the price, the hotel, room and location are good. We stayed in a building removed from the Frontdesk and as you entered you could quilcky tell it had been some time since updates had been made. Most critical item was mold on the wall above the sink in the bathroom.

The property is intended for those who have a long-term stay for business which takes them out of the room for most of the time. The kitchenette was good. The bathroom was cramped. The bed was comfortable. We stayed in a non-smoking room, but the smoke from the other part of the floor permeated the entire floor. There was no elevator, so we had to schlepp […] all of our stuff up the stairs. Since there was some sort of car rally in town, we had to listen to that. We loved it! The room was very clean and roomy with (2) queen beds and a kitchenette. The staff was very nice. They provided light housekeeping daily. I was quite surprised considering the price was very reasonable. We intend on returning in the near future.

It's a lovely place to stay. The rooms are always spotless, the staff is very friendly and inviting. They are always very helpful.
