Beautiful low key property with a spectacular beach and great amenities.... The best!

This is my third time at Mahekal. It's the only hotel in town that has bungalows for hotel rooms which I love versus a room in a building. It's so quaint and lovely, right on the beach! Spent a week here relaxing with my wife. A quite large hotel area with small one- and two-story apartments. The room we stayed in was quit simplistic: a good king-size bed, a closet, a table and a bathroom. Included safe, no minibar. Didn't feel like anything was lacking though. The room had a balcony that had two hammocks, those really made relaxing […] easy! The price included breakfast and either lunch or dinner, you could decide each day separately. The food was good with an emphasis on the local specialities and you could choose from an extensive list, even on breakfast and lunch. The hotel area included two pool areas with one of them having a hot water jacuzzi (which was open even during the night time!), a bar, separate restaurants for breakfast/lunch and dinner, a pricey spa offering massages and a small store for souvenirs. The hotel also had it's own beach with sun beds and shades and a PADI certified scuba shop offering diving, snorkeling and beach activities like water jets . Since the beach is facing eastwards it had some waves all the time, but even the smaller kids we're able to play in the shallow water. The beach stretched out many kilometers each way and with the finest sand and no trash made for some nice running, leave your shoes home! The hotel was located on the quieter northernmost part of the main pedestrian street (5th ave), but ahd some nice restaurants close by. The walk to the bus station and the ferry to Cozumel take around 30 minutes with a decent pace. The hotel bar had a happy hour form 5pm to 6pm with two drinks for the price of one which were priced pretty much to the local standards. The happy hour usually gathered quite a few people together, otherwise the bar was on the quiet side. The bar area had wifi (bring your iPad), one computer, two pool tables in a decent condition and a ping pong table. During day time you could also paint clay figurines and plates for a price. You can't beat the location for the money. We stayed in ocean view room and you walk right out of your room and your on the beach. The food is good. We opted for lunch instead of dinner, since we liked to go into town for dinner each night. Breakfast is great with sit down choices. We liked to eat out on pool deck with view of ocean. Rooms are not luxurious […] but adequate...no tv or phone, but did not spend much time in room. Beds were very comfy and clean. The rooms could use some renovating. Noise and loud music from the nearby club and restaurant can disturb in some rooms after 3pm. Anyhow, it stops at 10pm. Very good and friendly service. Good breakfast. We found lunch better than dinner, but you can change it daily.

Beds & pillows extremely comfy, despite the age of the place it was relatively comfy and very quaint, for the price we were happy with the hotel..... short walk to 5th ave,.....

Very friendly staff. Location was a bit far from the city center. I would stay here again but not for the price I paid.

This hotel is a hidden gem right on the tip of the Playa del Carmen strip. The rooms were so cute, basic (no tvs etc) but all that we needed for a relaxing trip. Breakfast is included there is a buffet and made to order eggs. Also included is lunch OR dinner and the food is pretty good. This was our first vacation in Mexico for my wife and myself. We thought a lot about finding the right hotel and after reading the reviews of former Mahekal guests we decided to give it a try - and we definitely did not regret it. Away […] from the party hotels (you just can hear some disco music from the distance), walking distance to the 5th avenue (with stores and restaurants) approx. 10 minutes and... with a dream of a beach next to the hotel - we had to walk only about 30 meters to the beach with its crystal clear water, clean sand and that kind of Carribean feeling which we hoped to find. We took an ocean view room and asked for a room in the upper (not ground) level. The room was okay, somekind back to basic (two queen beds, A/C and fan on the ceiling, small bath room, no TV or coffee machine), but... we slept under a thratched roof and heard the sound of birds on it day and night, we enjoyed our two hammocks on the patio and had an excellent and very reliable cleaning service - after one week this back to basic feeling had been just what we needed to relax and to get some kind of Carribean feeling. The staff was amazing. Very friendly, very customer oriented and engaged. We booked the transportation service from and to the airport directly at the hotel ($120 round trip) which worked out perfectly well. We got a private trip without waiting time for others - and the drive took about 45 minutes which made the price okay. The hotel guests had been by 80% couples - from all parts of the world (mostly Americans and Europeans). We enjoyed this intercultural mix very much. Very important had been the fact, that food and beverages were safe and we did not get sick. The water in the whole hotel had been filtered. Loved the thatch roof huts on the beach! Convenient location to everything we needed. Food is average. Drinks at the bar above average. Happy hour everyday for 2 for 1 cocktails. We spent from April 2 -9th and enjoyed every moment of our time at Mahekal Beach Resort. We had a beachfront cabana and it was perfect. We had service for lunch and drinks brought to our room. We will be back for a third visit very soon.

Our stay at the Mahekal was perfect! The location was great for us, because it was a close enough walk to the center of town (10 - 15 mins) so we could enjoy all the shopping, restaurants and nightlife, but far enough away that our beach was quiet and idyllic. The resort itself is quaint and comfortable, not like some of those very large resorts, and […] beautifully landscaped - it felt like you were on a tropical remote island with the thatched roofs and bungalow style buildings. The rooms were very clean and comfortable and the beach and pool areas were as well. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, especially Tania and the Concierge, Boli. Just spent a week at the Mahekal with a friend staying in an ocean view room. The room was large and clean - be warned there's no TV or phone if that's what you're after, but for us - it wasn't. It's about a 5 min walk from the top end of 5th avenue, so about 15-20 mins from the ferry port/bus station etc but nice to be off the main drag. Any downsides???not really. There was one day when there was a strange sulphur smell from the beach, but other than that it was the stereotypical warm sunshine, white sand, blue sea. Staying at mahekal was like being in heaven! Laid back place, super clean, charming, right on a beautiful beach, hammocks among the palm trees, good food at the restaurant, convenient location (very close to quinta avenida) central but at the same time in a very quiet place and far from the chaos of the clubs and bars. Great place to go is your tired of the mega resorts. Everything close to your room. Excellent food. Quiet Setting. No elevators or lond walks to the lobby, pool or beach. For a different relaxing time in Playa del Carmen it is the best choice.

Achtung: Es fallen Kosten an für alles was nicht explizit inbegriffen ist! Beispielsweise überteuerter Transfer vom Flughafen...

Superbe hôtel.Prestation haut de gamme à dimension humaine et très bien situé. Nous conseillons fortement cet hôtel ou la demi pension avec les repas sont excellents.

Hôtel de charme parfait sauf les odeurs d"égouts insoutenables sur la plage. Du coup, on est resté à la piscine...

Das Hotel ist etwas Besonderes, da es nur kleiner Bungalows sind. sehr schön in einer Gartenlandschaft. Die Zimmer sind aber etwas abgewohnt, aber voll funktionstüchtig. Manche Bereiche der Anlage werden renoviert, was aber gar nicht stört. Was mich gestört hat, ist dass das mehr nach Schwefelwasserstoff gerochen hat und das fast nur im Hotelbereich. […] Die Rezeption konnte da auch nichts machen. Les sugerimos que haya Internet en todas las habitaciones y televición

El Hotel está muy bien: la arquitectura, el lugar, la atención y la playa. Hay problemas con las cañerías: la ducha no tiene presión de agua y no se encuentra el punto entre fría y caliente. No fue clara la información en internet; pues ofrecía media pensión con bebidas; y resultó ser que no incluía las bebidas. Por lo demás, la pasamos 10 puntos.

DE HABER SABIDO QUE LA IBAMOS A PASAR TAN BIEN EN ESTE HERMOSO HOTEL NOS HUBIERAMOS QUEDADOS MAS DIAS, LAMENTABLEMENTE TENIAMOS OTRAS RESERVAS HECHAS. FUE UNA PENA HABER ESTADO TAN POCO TIEMPO. SIN LUGAR A DUDAS ES LO QUE MAS EXTRAÑO DE MIS VACACIONES A MEXICO...

Die Anlage Mahekal Beach Resort liegt schön abwärts vom ganzen Playa del Carmen Rummel. Ist jedoch in 20 min zu Fuss erreichbar. Wenn man mit dem Bus das Terminal erreicht ist es mit dem Taxi ca.10 min. und man bezahlt um die 5 Dollar. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Die ganze Anlage ist sehr sauber und wir haben noch nie so lecker von einem Buffet […] gegessen. Es lohnt sich mit Frühstück und Abendessen zu buchen. Beautiful location, great ambiance and very relaxing. Close to attractions like Xcaret and Xplore. The beach is fantastic, clean turquoise water and beautiful white sand. The restaurant across the street from the hotel, Origines, is well worth a visit. It is one of the top rated restaurants in Playa del Carmen on Tripadvisor. Situation top car en ville et pourtant c'est un havre de paix au milieu des cocotiers. A conseiller si vous allez à Playa. Je conseille les chambre avec vue sur mer qui ont des terrasses très sympa.

Dejligt hyggeligt hotel, dog med pæn gåafstand til bylivet, restauranter, shopping mv. Der er meget fredeligt omkring hotellet, og der er ingen arrangementer el lign i løbet af dagen, så hvis man leder efter fred og ro, er dette det rette sted. Super hôtel au bord d'une belle plage de sable fin. L'hôtel est constitué de nombreux bungalows ce qui change et fait davantage vacances que les gros complexes. Petit hôtel très sympathique et bien placé, mais en dehors de l'agitation de Playa Del Carmen.

Die Lage ist ideal: unweit vom Zentrum, bester Strandabschnitt. Die Zimmer sind einfach eingerichtet - leider sehr hellhörig und die Fenster sind nicht verdunkelbar. Die Hotelgäste sind v.a. viele Familien mit Kindern aus den USA und Kanada. Die Kinder "stören" aber nicht.

Wunderschöne, neu renovierte Anlage mit gemütlichen Cabanas,sehr gutes Essen, der sauberste und schönste Strand in Playa. Eine kleine Strandbar würde das Urlaubsfeeling noch erhöhen. Sehr toller Strand und sehr schöne Unterkunft! Die Zimmer sind ordentlich und sauber. Die Anlage sehr schön! Ins Zentrum kann man zu Fuss gehen (Dauer ca. 20 Min.).
