Great place. Definitely stay on the intercoastal side. Parking is pricey.

Good service, excellent rooms, excellent locations. Only a small observation about the service, who was too much cold and detached.

I had booked a jr suite with a view of the inter-costal. Our original room had a view of a large, very noisy air conditioner on top of the adjoining building. I took a picture on my cell phone and went back to the front desk to show them my "view." They immediately moved us to an upgraded room that was the nicest room I've ever stayed it. I was thoroughly impressed with every aspect of this hotel and highly recommend it! From the front desk staff, to the amazing views from the room (definitely upgrade to the Intercoastal side if you can!), to the restaurant (get the mozzarella presentation!). Every detail was spectacular. I cannot wait to return!

The hotel was excellent. The service was superb from the front desk to the pool attendant. The rooms are very clean and new. The decorattion is very modern, I would go back in a heart beat. Very close to the beach!

Nice location right on the Intercostal waterway and only 2 blocks from the beach. Several nice resteraunts to eat within a 2 minute walk. Great Italian bakery 3 minutes away that served wonderful danish and coffee in the morning. The only thing I did not like was the parking fee of $25.00 per day.

One of my favorites... Enjoyed our stay

Il Lugano in the northern part of Fort Lauderdale sits on the intercoastal waterway and is two blocks from the beach. Mom (75+ years old) and I went for a winter break--enjoyed milder temps and low-key R&R. Mom thought it was isolated from the beachfront business area, which it is, but we enjoyed the surroundings--warm pool and relaxing spa, manatees […] in the canal, as well as pleasure craft and industrial tug loads. Water taxi stop at the hotel, upon request. hotel staff very friendly and helpful, humorous and personable, including Ana and Jacquelyn at the desk, Nahim at the pool and Matt, the director of rooms, as well as concierge Marianne and the doormen. We did use the Escalade service- free hotel to curb trip within three miles--IF it's available (and it isn't always). The bus system in the area is easy to ride, as well as hop on-hop off trolley MWF. (we didn't have a car and parking is expensive at the hotel). Area had a 24-hour Walgreens with groceries and liquor, cute and fun St. Lawrence Art Gallery, Italian bakery, Subway and little sandwich shops. We found friends and happy hour at the Sly Fox Irish Pub behind the gallery--good eats as well as good drinks. Community Center is on the block; library is supposed to be nearby, but we never made it there. Beach is very accessible from the hotel. Hotel helped to arrange Everglades tour with pick up. Pots and pans provided for the kitchen upon request. nice to have a washer & dryer in the room and used the balcony often. Suggestion would be for hotel to have some sort of regular gathering/mixer. Room setup was a bit odd, with no door to the bedroom, which opens onto the balcony; bedroom, dining room, kitchen area are all open. Very thick robes provided. もっと読む

We live locally and went for a mommy/daddy night away. The staff was friendly, the room was immaculate, the view was spectacular. The room service menu is surprisingly affordable and there are several great restaurants in walking distance. The robes are cushy and the bed is very comfortable. Happy to find this hotel, as I frequently visit my retired parents and have been searching for a place that is not a condo, but not a hotel room. Il Lugano has lots of space, balconies and a kitchen. It also has what looks like a great restaurant, although I wasn't able to experience this visit, but I'll likely be back. I only gave it a 4 for condition […] of hotel because it essentially has no internet connectivity (wireless non-existent and no wired connection). I needed to work during my extended stay, and generally do whenever I am traveling, so this might be the only reason not to return. Hotel staff also very nice and accommodating. Service was excellent every employee we spoke to for any reason was very nice and took very good care of us. The room was really big but not quite a suite because you couldn't close off the bedroom from the living room area. Could've used a few more lights in the living room but otherwise excellent. One may think that the establishment that charges $300 per night would be guest friendly and accommodating right? Wrong! Not this place. The front desk a joke-of-a-receptionist made us wait for 4 hours without making even the slightest effort to get our room before the check-in time of 4 pm. Never mind that we had a 18-month-old traveling with us who […] was understandably tired and restless. My wife and I travel a lot but neither of us could recall encountering such cold and could--care-less attitude from a hotel personnel. Once we finally got a room it always took for ever to get it cleaned and most of the days we had to wait as late as 5 pm to have our towels refreshed or trash taken from under the sink. If it was not for a rather spacious room with a nice bay-side view, it would have been a great disappointment. We would NEVER recommend this place to our friends and family. If you are looking for a boutique hotel with a 5 star quality, then this is your place. More of a luxury condo feel than a hotel, but with all the hotel amenities. You just can't go wrong with this hotel. However, if you have a car and want to avoid the $20 valet parking, stock up on coins. There is more than ample pay parking across the street, but the meters are in effect 8 AM to 6 PM. The good news is that it's only $0.50/hr, with a 3 hrs. max, but you can feed the meter. Try and get a high floor, with a view […] of the inter coastal. If you get a low floor, you can face the parking lot and not really see the ocean. They do not pick you up from the airport, it is inconveniently located, and yet if you don't stay here you are doing yourself a HUGE disservice. Amazing hotel, great staff, beautiful view, and the amenities (refrigerator, stove, washer/dryer) make this a steal!

Great place. We received an upgraded room which was a king suite. Huge room overlooking the channel. Nice and clean. Front desk,concierge and bellstand were all fiendly and very helpful with our questions. Would definitely recommend this hotel.

My husband and I have been there 2x. This hotel is one the best kept secrets in Ft. Lauderdale. Its in a great location and very well kept. The views are amazing the the staff could not be more pleasant or try harder to accomodate you. Great place to stay!

The staff was courteous and efficient. We had some snaffus with our water heater and the chief engineer came immediately. Marianne the concierge was FANTASTIC! She got us a reservation that I couldn't get for myself, which is a big deal to me. My husband and I asked her 10 different questions at once and she smoothly handled each one. Il Lugano is in a great location, minus the immediate block between it and the high-rises leading to the ocean. [I suspect this will all get developed in the next decade.] Nothing dangerous, just old and unattractive. The things that hold me back from giving this a five-star rating include the $25 valet parking fee (way too high and didn't need to be valet, for Pete's sake), and that the junior suite didn't come with bedding in the room for the soda bed - that required calling the desk to send a maid. Surely there was enough closet space to provide the sheets, pillows, and blanket. The welcome desk bobbled our order, which I witnessed several other times as well. But the room was great, the location was handy, and the quiet was really, really great. Loved everything about the hotel! The restaurant was a GEM- great food, and fabulous wines. You could walk to any number of spas/salons, as well as a great French restaurant and blues bar too. The neighborhood is "on it's way back" with a few empty store fronts- but still all in all a terrific place to stay and a great value.

Only negative was housekeeping's timliness of cleaning the room. We were there 5 nights and each day (by 3pm) we had to call to confirm our room was on the schedule to be cleaned. Such a pleasant surprise to find this little jewel on the intracoastal. A top shelf restaurant, very helpful staff, amazing spotless large rooms, nearby transportation and more quality restaurants just a short walk away. Nothing went wrong, and everything felt just right. A boutique feeling at a much more reasonable price.

Great hotel, great staff, wonderful views from both sides of the hotel. Always seems to take a while to check in, but worth the wait. Good food, jazz club wihin 300 yards of hotel. Transient boat slips available.

Nice hotel.....not directly on Fort Lauderdale Beach, but close enough. Good proximity to Boca Raton and Fort Lauderdale.

The experience began will the valet. He was friendly and worked quickly but with care. The hotel is beautiful and the rooms more so. The view from the 10th floor was awesome! The only small problem was that the hotel didn't have direct beach access. Five minute walk. Just gave us more exploring time.

I thoroughly enjoyed Il Lugano hotel. It was so clean, modern and classy. There were a few things that I think could improve but I would still rate it five stars. The improvements would be a doorman to open the doors when you are entering with luggage and a coffeemaker in the room.
