Great place to stay. Cozy and right on the beach. The view was awesome. Had a great time. Close to snorkeling, deep sea fishing. Will definitely be back!

Marathon Key is not as busy as Key West, one of the 'middle' keys, and thus much quieter. This location is brilliant with a private beach, a shade hut outside on the end of the pier and a great restaurant 3 miles away. My daughter and I stayed at this resort on our first night in the keys. We were able to get a room with 2 beds for a reasonable price. We had a view of the Ocean and walked out on the private pier. There was also a small kitchen in the room which was nice.

It is not the Ritz, but it is a comfortable, clean and affordable place for a quick getaway. The hotel staff was pleasant and professional. We were there over Easter weekend to relax and fish from the nearby bridge at conch key. We would definitely book it again.

The room was clean but small. There was no phone, which is no big deal these days with cell phones. The only complaint is that the mattress on the king size bed was completely worn out. Room was old but clean. Bed and bedding was new and comfy. Nice beach but grassy non swimming water area.

We enjoyed our stay here very much. The room was large, very clean and the staff was excellent. Close to nearby attractions and less than an hour from Key West. While the beach is excellent for sunbathing, don't expect to go swimming as the shoreline is muddy (as is most the shoreline in the keys).

It' OK for a place to stop for a night but when you can fell every spring in the mattress it doesn't whorth the stop.

Absolutely charming: several hammocks tied to swaying palm trees, piers with thatched shade, simple rooms with all anyone needs, cheerful and bright color scheme make the compact lodging seem larger. We had a wonderful stay here bit noisy next to the main road and a little more beach would have been great other than that I would recommend it.

En route to this hotel, I read the reviews. I only wish I'd read them carefully before Bill made reservations! About all that I can say that's positive about the Seashell Beach Resort is that the couple in the room next to ours were great! We all hung out on the beach and the balcony because the LAST place you'd want to be is the room. Peeling paint, […] plastic chairs, a toilet that had to be flushed five times before it was empty, a shower that we discovered (in the morning) didn't work. (The lack of shampoo or conditioner should have tipped me off; one of course doesn't use much if one's shower doesn't function.) It isn't often that I feel compelled to check for bedbugs, but I did here. I just want to point out that this is a hidden gem. The unit we had was renovated, 2 rooms with king size beds. The place was immaculate. Very close to Marathon and on the ocean side. We would go back again. In the keys , the pictures look great and when you get there it is a big surprise. Reviews are very important.

The hotel is situated at a nice place. As it is close/next to the main road you can hear some noise of passing traffic during the day/evening. At night it is rather quiet though. The oceanview is really beautiful! The room was OK. It is approximately a 1 /1,5 hour drive to Key West.

The resort was reminiscent of an old fashioned resort --which is OK. BUT the room was tiny and uncomfortable (no place to sit, poor lighting, no telephone, small TV, noisey air conditioning). The air in the room smelled stale. The office is closed when you would expect it to be open. For example, I arrived at 6:10 PM and found the place locked up tight. […] The property is not well lighted. One guest arrived at 9 PM and needed help to even locate the office (where the room key was in an envelope on the door). Once the room was located the guest had trouble opening the door. We were delighted by this hotel - from the warm greeting at the front desk, to the wonderful recommendations on restaurants and activities - we felt right at home. It is quiet and relaxing with everything you need for a get away stay. And the best was watching the sunrise from a gently swaying hammock between 2 palm trees.

Buddy and I stayed 2 nights at this great little hotel. We were surprised by the quiet and peaceful setting. We are planning to make this a yearly trip. Next time we're bringing the wives! Highly recomended.

Nice ocean-front location. Plenty of lounge chairs, a hammock, and private pier complete with tiki table. Room was fairly large, but beds short and not real comfortable. Bathroom was cramped.

We were just stopping through Marathon and booked this hotel on line before we arrived. It was clean and ok to stay at for a night or two. I'm sure most of the hotels on the strip are similar so it was fine for our purposes.

Excellent place for families or couples or singles. Beautiful sunsets and sunrises and lots of birds. Right on the beach with hammocks and kayaks available

It's not a fancy hotel. But it has comfort feeling like home. The beach is beautiful. Location is great for us as we traveled to the Key West the day before and the Dolphin Research Center the day after.

The room was small and inexpensive, but clean. Staff was friendly. If you are looking for a 4 or 5 star resort, this in not you motel. If you are just looking for a place to spend a night, its OK.

The room of this "RESORT" is like a very cheap "MOTEL"! The room is so small that it just barely fit 1 king bed. It has no closet, iron/iron board, no hair dryer, coffee or tea maker, cup, table or chair, mirror (except the medicine cabinet type of mirror in the bathroom, no shampoo or body wash of any kind. It has two bar of cheap facial soap, two […] bath towels, one little night stand with a lamp that you can get a little electrical shock when you try to turn off the light. It has cable TV, but the TV is a 15" flat screen (try to lay in bed and watch TV). The floor has cheap tiles, and the bathroom is dirty. The air conditioner is old and noisy. There's hardly any space inside the bed room that the door has to swing outside to open. There's no fancy key card or anything just a typical house key. There's no light switch at the door, so you'll have to walk to the desk lamp to turn on the light. The water front for this "RESORT" looks OK. It has an OK scenery. It has no swimming pool, and even though it's water front, you can't swim because there's no beach. It's small place so you'll hardly see anyone around. The motel is along the sea: the view is really great, but there is nothing to see, no commodity, no kitchen in the room I was in, only on a small LCD TV and a small fridge. The tenant is alright but not really friendly.

During the day yes, but if your bedroom is facing the ocean side with windows, around 2-3 am hotel guests love to hang out in beach chairs under your windows and talk loudly, […] which does not let you sleep Beds: pretty comfortable, matresses look new. Bedding is clean and looks new Windows: most of them you can't open or close (they are old shutter style) Kitchen: it does have dishes, but we could not even find the knife to cut the food with. All they had in the room is two bread knives. No can or bottle opener either. Shower: you can ether have hot water or cold water in it. You turn it to the left - scolding hot comes out, to the right - cold. Put it in the middle and it shuts water off completely Cleanliness: looks OK. However, the floor felt dirty when walking barefoot. We also found somebody's shorts and dirty socks in the dresser in one of the bedrooms. Customer service. They are only open till 6pm, so if you need anything after hours - forget it. You also need to call them ahead of time to make arrangements if you are planning to arrive after 6 pm. Front desk person is pretty accomodating though and will tell you how to obtain the key after she is gone for the day. Charges: the prices are pretty decent. Although they charged us for 2 extra people, which does not make sense. We were renting 2-bedroom suite. It was just 2 of us (adults) and two kids. They explained they base they are charges on per room basis, and it still does not make any sence if we have two people per room.... Beach: pretty shallow, lots of seaweed, not for swimming or fishing. But very pretty. They have couple of hammocks and complimentary kayaks. I really enjoyed my stay at the Seashell Beach Resort. The hotel is an "old Florida mom and pop." My room was clean (as clean as an old hotel can look), it smelled fresh, and the air conditioner was quiet. If you just want a clean, safe place to sleep, this will meet your needs. place to sleep. AC made everything in the room feel damp. Picture online at hotels.com nicer than actual place. Beach was overgrown with grass. Staff was nice but not worth the price.

We were on our honeymoon and needed a place to stay for a night since we were arriving late and did not want to pay a full night's rate. I saw this on the website and couldn't pass up the price. It was pretty easy to find and when we got in, our key was waiting for us. Our room was just that, a room. It had everything we needed for the night. The room was clean and quaint. The bathroom was adequate and the king-size bed was comfortable. The hotel was right by the water and when we got up the next morning, we could see the beach and a beautiful sunrise. The manager at the front desk was extremely polite and it was a beautiful start to our honeymoon. If you're looking for a 4-star hotel, this is not the place. The hotel was nice and clean. The view was spectacular. Nice balcony & location. Very quiet and small resort. Location was nice within the middle of keys. Will stay again and recommend for anyone considering.

The hotel was not large, but the rooms were cute, clean and the view was spectacular. I would definitely go back with my girlfriend again. I just wouldn't recommend bringing the whole family, unless you go for the larger units.

This is a very small hotel complex on the bay side. There is no room service, no vending machines and no were close to walk to. The room was cozy. If you are looking to something different and quite then this is the place to stay.

This place is OK as as place. I see some negative reviews but the fact is it is an older motel. Its an old hotel on a highway. The place had an awful smell when I was there and we had problems with the hot water and ants in the room. Its a very old concrete structure that is not aging well. I was very unhappy with our stay.

It was a really nice villa. There were two hammocks by the water and two piers (one had a small table and umbrella). The room was small, but we came to visit the keys, not the room. The room quality was extremely bad. There were no amenities in the room, such as glasses or telephones. The hotel location was nice and the stuff were friendly.

Sea-weed smell was awful, stopped us from sitting outside or enjoying the back area of the hotel. Shower area was old, and in need of repair.. Very run-down hotel, but we were not looking for a spa/resort just a place to crash for the night so the hotel worked..

My friends and I stayed at this hotel for two nights while we were visiting the keys and, overall, we were very satisfied with our stay. This hotel is clean, safe, and I'd highly recommend it. My favorite part is a sandy area (not a beach per se) with coconut trees, hammocks, chairs, and recliners - very peaceful!! The only issue was that the shower […] water was not hot - it was mild or room temperature but not hot. This did not turn out to be a major issue for us since we stayed during June. About ten minutes from the hotel (by car) are many stores including Publix which is very useful. This was our first trip to the Keys and we thought Marathon would be a central location since it is pretty much midway between Key West and Key Largo, however we found that it was not as convenient as initially expected.
