IF LIKE ME YOU LIKE TO SEE THE ROUGH WI NTER SEA THE METROPOLE IS IDEAL

So near to all the theatres which was great because we were there to see Alfie Boe in concert and even thought it was strictly come dancing weekend and the hotel was full, service was fine, would stay again.

When we arrived we were informed of a room upgrade which we were very happy about. The room was very spacious and we had a great nights sleep. No complaints!

Good location for a night out on the town. very clean, comfortable and staff very helpful. Clean rooms. Excellent breakfast would stay here again.

Hotel public areas nicely maintained in the period style of hotel , breakfasts self service and good enough quality ,toast was cold though. Room very cosy ,shame there was no view due to window looking out to lightwell and airconditioning units .

The hotel itself has obviously been Grand in its day and the decor shows this. It is a little worn but I felt this added to the atmosphere of the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We booked last minute (the afternoon before our stay) via the internet for a 1 night stay. When we arrived, we were told that our booking had only just been received by the hotel that morning, and as a consequence they were only able to give us a twin room (instead of the double we had booked). As this was intended to be a romantic weekend, we were […] disappointed, but the receptionist did apologise and gave us a free bottle of wine & a sea-view room by way of apology. When we got to the room we found that we could push the beds together, so it wasn't the end of the world!. The only criticism we had was that the decor had seen better days and the bathroom had no shower of any description. After walking around the building trying to find the entrance we finally made our way in. Can't say that i had an enjoyable experience, certain lobbies when walking down them had an unbearable sewage smell. Had requested twin rooms but received a small double which was so hard i slept on top of the duvet to give extra padding. Stayed 2 nights at this hotel. very pleasant....entertainment on the evenings to cater for all. Bar expensive though!, but would stay there again!

Being a very old hotel it is a beautiful place to stay, well situated to all the sights and attractions. The rooms were comfortable and clean providing a good place to stay.

My partner and I booked the Metropole in Blackpool, with Hotel.com and arrived on the Friday afternoon, 16 September, 2011. We were then told that there was no room for us and that we would be shipped out to the Norbreck Castle Hotel which is a few miles away. this hotel is terrable

This hotel was good it was easy to get to places as the Tower was just across the road , 5 Minutes from a bus stop that went along the golden Mile or even to freeport , and 5 minutes from a tram stop. we were also just across the road from the town centre.

nice big room with seaview.buffet breakfast nicely cooked plenty of choice.Hotel is in a perfect location for the shops and bars and restaurants

So, I took a chance and didn't stay at the hilton. Location-wise great for the bar life etc. Parking is free if you get a space. Check-in was fine. Got into the lift and noted the fragrance of urine within. Room, as a single was fine, except overlooked a karoake bar...late into the eve. Breakfast was a help yourself cooked buffet. A very short stroll from the North Pier and not too far from the bus and rail stations, the Grand Metropole Hotel was ideally located for the 9.30 a.m. start of a classic tram tour from the North Pier tram stop and indeed for all central facilities - shops, Tower, etc. Talbot Square opposite North Pier can be rowdy with late night revelers, so it is […] good that the hotel is situated a little way to the north - just far enough away to be reasonable quiet. Apparently, it is the only hotel actually on the promenade (rather than across the road from it) and was the first hotel opened in Blackpool, although since altered and extended. So it was pleasant to be able to stroll out directly onto the prom without having to negotiate a busy road. When I arrived, I discovered my room was on a sort of mezzanine level not served directly by a lift. As I am mobility impaired and need hands free to manage stairs, the reception staff were very helpful and took my bags to my room. Altogether, I found the staff very considerate and professional. I enjoyed the no-nonsense traditional dinner menu, which included good quality soup and tea/coffee served direct to your table. Although the bar was a little pricey, I feel that they charge around the norm for hotel bars. Dinner, however, is very good value for three courses plus tea/coffee. They do offer varied entertainment each night, but I was too tired for this, having spent much of the daytime on the go; so I was glad to have a comfortable room, which had very effective double glazing if you needed to shut out any sounds (not that there was much noise). The hotel seems to attract a reasonable clientele, so there is very little internal noise to disturb a good night's sleep. Extra pillows and blankets are also to be found in the wardrobe, should these be required. Although I was in a room at the back (not sea view), the traffic noise wasn't too intrusive and the trams are fairly quiet now as the old corrugated rail has recently been repla もっと読む

It doesn't have wifi in the room. But who cares? It's cheap, it's clean, it's comfortable.

Hotel was obviously very grand in its day, and it still shows now. Although its a little rough around the edges, its still a magnificent place. Staff were all friendly and helpful, room was lovely, Breakfast was better than we would have found in a Blackpool greasy spoon cafe. Blackpool is though... a hole. Its been destroyed by the Stag/Hen do crowd. […] We gave up on a night out after spending a couple of hours walkin between pubs and bars avoiding the vomit and urine soaked streets, and went back to the hotel. Bar was still open, prices were reasonable, and we spent the rest of the night outside laughing at the wildlife. We wont be rushing to stay in Blackpool again, but not because of the hotel. The Metropole was the only good thing about our night in Blackpool. My one and only gripe about the hotel is the parking is a nightmare. This hotel was a last minute booking and very cheap, so i wasn't expecting much - but was far worse than i thought it would be. Room not cleaned properly, bits all over the floor. Soaking wet towel and half empty shampoo in the shower. later realised the towel had been put in shower to muffle drip. Hotel gave them many towels to staunch the flow, but did not fix it during the 48 hours between reporting and check out. The breakfast is awful - swimming in grease and very poor quality items. Not enough attention given to the parking facilities causing people to park very badly and making it unsafe to park without damage to ones car without extreem caution in some cases

Good value for money in a great location. The only problem at the moment is all the major construction works surrounding the hotel. this should be resolved eventaully. Car parking can be a problem as well at the weekends. Good helpful staff.

The Hotel Metropole was close to most ammenities, however most of them were closed. No trams, had to look at alternative transport, buses or trains. Hotel service was poor, and maintenance of hotel dreadful. Wallpaper, carpets woodwork, bathrooms, in need of a good clean or fixed. me and wife went to stay on 26/2/11 for 1 night. when we pull up out side the hotel the car park was full we park up nearby and walk in. i ask about the parking as it was full to be told that it was a 1st come who get to park. i told the manager the that the wed site said parking and not 1st come.i was told icould park in the wilkinsons car at a cost […] of £15 for 24 hours in end we had to move to the norbreck castle park もっと読む

I would recommend not using this hotel.

Everything was of a high standard , breakfasts were first class , free independant newspaper ,would stay here again . No complaints whatsoever.

Although full of old people on coach trips (in winter) the room was comfortable but needed some upgrading / refurbishment in the bathroom. Excellent location though, right near the town centre.

Close to Blackpool Tower and North pier also near the main shops and many dining venues Lots of Pubs and nite clubs in close vacinity.

Very nice hotel, clean condition and pleasant staff enjoyable stay, could do with a lick of paint but on the whole top hotel.

I found the hotel to be reasonable and clean. The mattress was not the most comfortable ever. We were given a room on the 1st floor on the road side. We were woken up at 4a.m. by revellers leaving the nightclub opposite who were very loud. Next time I would go for a room on the seaward side which is much more peaceful. The hotel looks very old & dated outside bit inside it is clean & fairly modern, rooms were clean & because of the location late night noise was very minimum. I go to Blackpool regular & find parking an issue this hotel is good the fact u get the car park fee waived for staying there.

on arrival we were unable to get parked in the hotels car park as it was full, we were then told by the staff on reception that it was first come first served , our room was basic but clean apart from the windows which were filthy,when we went down for our meal on the first night the cutlery was filthy, (for the other meals it was ok), meals were ok […] 2/3 choices and plenty of it, not enough staff anywhere in hotel, could'nt get served at the bar only 1 member of staff doing drinks and food, had to wait nearly 20 minutes for a drink. もっと読む

I had booked two twin rooms and payed for in advance but told on arrivel that only one twin available would two singles do ended up with internal double no view only windows covered in seagull droppings

Staff were not helpful. breakfast was luke warm / cold the staff were not helpful. Tables were not always laid or cleared from previous people. When we spoke to the manager he said he would come back but never did, in fact we never saw him the rest of the week. We could not open our windows in the room, we had a number pigeons nesting or sitting in […] the balcony, they could have put netting there, as you can imagine the state of balcony and windows not pleasant. Not bad at all for it's location right on the beach. We have an ocean view room with bed, breakfast and "dinner" so the hotel.com price became very reasonable. You can't really expect modern convenience at Blackpool bed and breakfast hotels ( for example we did not even have a phone in our room, but we had great ocean view).
