I didn't know this hotel was under construction. I was not told at the front when I checked in. According to the manager, 'it is written in the card on the desk.' For the first two days, the internet connection disconnected often and I had to reset multiple times. When I complained about this, people at the front desk continued to tell me to call the […] internet company which I've already done and didn't help. Upon my asking they bought me two breakfast. Breakfast at VOICE... Voice looks nice at a glance, but I noticed the napkins were dirty twice. (some kind of stains on them) Amount of the food is not adequate (small) for me for the first time in the united states. (I mean it is expensive) One time they forgot to bring juice (which I noticed after I came back to my room) I saw the employee taking coffee from the coffee pot for the guests. I saw one guest ate the breakfast buffe and din't pay and left the hotel, and I and the staff noticed it but she didn't charge him after that. (while I 'm paying money for the same thing) Durng mystay, I wake up woth the noise of construction just above my room. On the second day, I could not stand with it and I asked them to change my room at 9am The lady at the front told me it will take one hour. I recalled then at 10;20 and they told me to wait another 20 minutes. When I complained about this, they said the checking out time is 12:00. Then, why did they tell me that I can move at 10:00am? After all, they brought the key which is the same level of the old room. Initially, they were planning to move em to downstairs which are not affected by the noise, but they changed their mind. I complained about this and I had to push hard to move to the lower level. I ate two prongles from the bar and they charge me different price for each one. I had to tell them to correct it. We stayed here for Valentines weekend and didnt want to leave. The service was great, the room was equisite, and the food/bar was very nice as well. We will definitely stay here again. The only downside is the $28/day valet but overall our stay was fabulous!

Close to the restaurants and night clubs around Market Square and Main Street. One block from the historic and eclectic La Carafe. On the Metro Light Rail line. I think the valet parking is overpriced.

Staff was very friendly and prvided great service. Emily at the front desk was very accmodating. Loved the decor.

The hotel was very nice; excellent room, good restaurant. The only negative was the shuttle service to the convention center. If they are going to offer this service to their guests then they need something other than the eight passenger suburbans.

My room was quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly and responded swiftly to correct a couple of oversights with towels etc. Handy to transport and to the little local park.

A beautiful king suite with wonderful spa bath and huge shower. The mattress was way too soft and we both awoke with back pains. I hope they get new mattresses before we return.

I ended up staying here because my usual hotel was booked. I thoroughly enjoyed the entire stay and will stay here in the future vs. my usual place because it was so nice. There were two negatives related to my stay. The TV in my room was ancient - probably 10-15 yrs old. The phone starting making weird noises chirping and beeping and I couldn't get […] it to stop. I finally unplugged it and put it in the closet. Everything else was great - food was MUCH better than a typical chain hotel, the room was large and well decorated, the shower and bathroom facilities were very nice and the staff was helpful and friendly. Wonderful hotel in downtown Houston. Enjoyable design... parisian boutique with texas touches... valet parking is the only option at $28/day... but it is in/out service... restaraunt was hit or miss... but only by a small margin... i look forward to staying here again

Great customer service. My girlfriend knows how to pick them! We will be back.

Staff was great. Hotel is old converted bank building. Campy western cattle theme/decor was kinda cool. We enjoyed the wonderful shower and will return.

Everything was great. The staff was friendly, room was clean and beautiful and overall it was a great stay. The mandatory valet parking we could have done without, but it still does not take away from how much we liked the hotel. The rain shower was also a great touch.

This is my second stay at the refurbished bank building in a gradually-improving downtown Houston. The streetscape is underwhelming and you're not exactly sure where to find the entrance. But once in the lobby the soaring ceiling, decor and ambiance make you wonder if you' re in the right place because the rates are so cheap. The rooms are sizeable […] and beautifully decorated. The bathrooms are spacious and have a rainwater shower overhead in addition to a conventional showerhead. The fitness center is adequately equipped for an out-of-town workout. It's adjacent to the spa which has reasonably priced massages. I've only done room service food but what I've ordered has been very good. I'm used to hotel rates in Philadelphia and NYC and the ICON is a third of those. So for me it's a psychological bargain! もっと読む

This was my first time at this hotel - loved it! nice!

My husband and I absolutely loved the hotel. Everyone was very friendly. The hotel is historic yet modern. We enjoyed a delicious dinner one evening at their restaurant VOICE. Also, they provided transportation to everywhere we wanted to go.

I had stayed here when it first opened a while back and was immediately taken by the decor. The decor was still pretty cool, but some of the appointments in the room left me a little disappointed. The room I was in was on a pretty high floor, which afforded me a great view of the city. But when I got in bed to watch a little tv, I was immediately struck […] by the fact that it was a tube television...seriously. LaQuinta can put flatscreens in their rooms, but a 4 star hotel is still getting by with tubes? The bathroom was HUGE!!! This is a wonderful thing, but I was disappointed to discover that they switched from Molton Brown toiletry products to something that really paled in comparison. Unexpected construction at our residence left us "hotel hopping" for 3 weeks. We stayed in 4 different hotels in the downtown area (all 4-star +) and the Icon is by far the nicest. Beautiful architecture, well maintained and elegantly decorated rooms and common spaces. Also a large, modern fitness facility. Excellent value.

Bad thing at this hotel is you may never get out of the bed... the mattress and sheets and pillows are unbelievable. Location is decent, though a few panhandlers in the blocks surrounding. Staff is super friendly. Instant valet parking. Cool bar with what seemed like good food, we didn't partake though. Beautiful old world type hotel... My children and I loved it... especially the luxurious bathroom!!! Hotel offered car rides to nearby attractions and a phone number to call for a pick back up. Hated the price of parking/valet -- mandatory $28 a night... ouch!

The staff is generally nice and the only thing I can say negatively about the place is the AC units do not cool your room to the degree that you would want during a Texas summer. I do not believe the thermostats in the rooms work. Other than that I am a repeat customer.

I wanted a place to take my wife so she could get away from the kids and the everyday life stresses. Some place not only where she could get rest,but also see how much I value her. HOTEL ICON was well above my EXPECTATIONS

My girlfriend and I enjoyed our stay at The Hotel Icon greatly. They were one of the few upscale hotels that accepted our dog and didn't upcharge anything for it. From the valet to the front desk, everyone was very upbeat and helpful. First impressions are always important and the hotel has them down to a science. Room was very clean and a decent size.. […] I had read comments about rooms being small. However, they were plenty big for the two of us. Also, the hotel has complimentary taxi service in the city. We didn't use this service because it is so close to Minute Maid Ballpark... A brief run down... Pros: - Very affordable (much better rate here on hotels.com) - Hotel staff and services very good - Location Location it was a short walk to Minute Maid Park to watch the Pirates beat up on the Astros - Pet friendly @ no additional charge Cons: (very limited, but some people may care) - Out of date old CRT style television in the room... Even cheap chain motels have flat screens these days (they need to update) I realize no one should be sitting around watching TV, but it is nice when you turn it on to get the news or sports to not watch a mid 1990's TV - Drinks @ Hotel Bar and Some of the SPA services were a bit pricey vs. comparable resorts/hotels Overall: For a few more dollars than a chain hotel.. it is well worth it for the atmosphere... attention from the staff... and location... The room was lovely, but the bed was TINY. It was too small for 2 adults to sleep comfortably, and it seemed that we got a single standard room instead of a double. We were very uncomfortable, and did not sleep well.

Had some difficulty getting to the hotel due to road closures, there was construction on the exterior of the hotel itself, and the windows were dirty on the outside so our view was limited. The room itself was fantastic, the room service was super, and the VOICE Restaurant and Lounge in the lobby was comfortable while the food was delicious.

Staff was awesome & room was really nice. Room service was great. Valet parking was really fast! The jacuzzi tub jets didn't look very clean though so we didn't use the tub at all. The shower was great! Was a little surprised that the tv wasn't a flat screen. Overall really nice hotel - would be happy to stay there again!
