The hotel has an excellent location with views over the marina from all rooms. The breakfasts are great as there is something for each nationality staying there. Free Internet access in the reception area. All rooms have an outside sitting area and cooking facilities.

We both found the bed far too firm and had trouble sleeping. The television was an old analogue model and not a flat sceen as are now currently standard in UK hotels and albeit worked, it crackled on ITV (their channel 11). Whilst this hotel overall was a good one (the location and the rooms were great), there were several things which let them down. - The cups, teaspoons provided for tea/coffee weren't washed by housekeeping. I don't expect to go to a 4* hotel and have to take my own washing up liquid. It's not nice to 'fall down the gap'. - I tried to ring reception/housekeeping on three separate occasions and each time nobody picked up the phone. The staff at Tivoli Marina Portimao were very friendly and helpful, although at first it did take some time for them to locate our booking. The rooms were sparse but clean and quite comfortable. The location, actually in the Marina, is excellent - it is far enough away from the bars and clubs to be quiet, but close enough to the beach, shops and restaurants […] to be convenient. Our room was on the side of the hotel nearest the second (small) pool - it's a 5-minute walk (or short ride on the hotel's golf buggies) into the main area. The main swimming pool is huge and clean, with lots of comfy sunbeds, and this was really the focus of our holiday. The restaurant served a decent breakfast with lots of variety, and a good dinner on the one occasion we went there (there are many good local restaurants nearby). There are a few good, safe running routes starting from the hotel as well. One disappointment was the gym, where the equipment is old, dirty and broken and there was no water cooler. Main complaint was the electricity in the room kept going out especially in the evenings, this happened 5 nights of our 7 night stay, we were told it would be fixed the next day but the next day never came. Hotel location is great however there are a lot of stairs to the main strip so its probally not the best if your mobility is poor. I stayed at the Tivoli Marina Portimao as part of my wedding celebrations which took place at the hotel in August 2010. Our whole experience was fantastic, the room was a good size with a balcony overlooking the main pool, the bathroom is spacious and the room had a kitchenette which was very useful. We had dinner at the buffet on our first night and […] then celebrated our wedding blessing, cocktails and reception dinner all on site. The staff were accommodating, friendly and hard-working from housekeeping, banquet staff and reception not to mention management. The food was fantastic especially the breakfast buffet and the view from the terrace is amazing. The location itself is ideal, private yet close to all amenities including praia de rocha beach and the marina. Some or our guests did stay at the far end of the hotel and required buggy pick up to the main reception area but this added to the charm of the hotel and didn't inconvenience anyone too greatly. I know some other guests did not appreciate this as much, however, I guess by knowing in advance you can request a room in your ideal location. The complex was safe for children and intimate enough for a group our size. The only minor complaint I would make was with room service which took over an hour to arrive. Excellent location. 1 hour from the airport - transport a bit expensive, pre book in UK. Marina location is up-market and relaxed, not too busy with young adults- average age 30+. Wir waren jetzt zum dritten mal im Tivoli und können es auf jeden fall empfehlen. Das frühstück ist ganz toll und die aussicht vom Frhstückraum auf den Rio Arada und das gegenüberligende Feragudo ist auch sehr schön.
