ホテル ル ピゴネ (Hotel Le Pigonnet)

ヒューストンからフランクフルト経由でマルセイユに着き、空港からレンタカーで行く。町の南側でアクセスも良い。従業員は一応英語が出来るので助かる。駐車スペースもありキーを渡せば駐車しておいてくれる。歴史を感じさせる建物。部屋はアメリカに比べれば狭いが、それなりのサイズ。バスルームのトイレタリーは質の高いものがおいてあり、お持ち帰りをお勧めする。後日イタリアで役に立った。朝、窓際のテーブルから庭を見ながらゆっくりとる朝食はとても落ち着く。質も高い。家内が一番気に入っていた。トラ猫が外からニャー・・・・。　後日家内が忘れ物をしたかもしれないというので電話で確認した時も、とても丁寧に対応してくれた。従業員の質が高い。徒歩で町の中心にもすぐ行けるので便利です。

My partner and I were on a tour of southern france and booked into what we were led to believe is a five star hotel. it didn't look good when we arrived and there was a skip, vans, builders and construction debris outside. We went in and were met with a luke warm reception to say the least. On asking about the rate we had booked on line we were told […] - "online bookings are no profit to us" we had paid for 240 for a "superior" room. We were put into a life that would only fit two people with NO luggage and led up through a dark and dirty corridor with chipped paint and lights that went out the minute you stopped moving. Our room was tiny with small hard towels and a cracked sink. I have to say the Concierge was the best thing about the place. We booked in late after a long day so we decided to put up with it - he very kindly drove us uptown to a restaurant. We enjoyed staying at this hotel. The location is conveniently located to the city center and is easy to walk to all of the shops and restaurants. The staff was very nice and knowledgable of the surrounding area. They were able to recommend a great restaurant in town. The gardens outside and the terrace were very nicely appointed.

Hotel was lovely, good service, good location. We had a superior room which was ok, but still not that big. Bathroom was a little small. The back yard of the hotel is very nice, great sitting area and landscaping in the garden.

Lunch on the grounds or at the pool; dinner in town and maybe a drink at the outdoor bar afterward makes the perfect day. Very friendly staff and beautiful gardens. A bit of a walk to centre of town but hotel does have free car service available. We have stayed at The Pigonnet several times and it has never failed to be very good indeed. The food is excellent and the staff are always attentive without being intrusive. I think we shall never visit the south of France without including a few nights at The Pigonnet.

Hotel le Pigonnet is the best place to stay in Aix en Provence (And I've only stayed there, but I'd be willing to bet). The acres of gardens and the secluded privacy along side a charming city is a great combination. The complementary champaign that the hotel delivered to our room on our Lune de Miel was the perfect touch. It is worth every Euro.

Painting of common areas was underway when we were there, but that is far short of what this hotel needs. The carpet in the common stairs and hallways is either threadbare and/or horribly stained. The hallway lighting is horrid. The actual rooms, while of very good size, are a collection of lowest bid furniture items. The art on the walls was largely purchased at a low end flea market or thrift store. Notwithstanding all this dumpster news, the building is beautiful, as is the very large garden area. Our room on the 2nd floor had a huge balcony (over 200 s.f.) overlooking the gardens, with chase lounges and a table and seats for enjoying the outdoors as well as a breathtaking view of a distant mountain. Le Pigonnet has an amazing garden just in the style that I expect to see in Provence. Kind service, well maintained and very clean. The breakfast is expensive but, maybe, the quality of fruits, cheeses and bakery can justified it.

Two things struck us. It is a good 15 minute walk to get into the centre of town but you can drive and there is a large underground car park. Slight disappointment was the menu which was not only rather limited but did not vary one day to the next.

Hotel Le Pigonnet is a excellent place to stay while visiting the Aix-en-Provence area. It is a 10-15 minute walk from the city center and offers a very pleasant refuge when returning to the hotel. Room was on the smaller side but very pleasing and the bed and bedding luxurious. Would definitely recommend this hotel.
