The hotel was wonderfully located steps way from the ferry. It was in a cute New England quaint town of Port Jeff with several restaurants and bars to enjoy a night stay. This was our second stay at Danfords, and both times were equally pleasant. We were on Long Island to attend my son's wedding in nearby Port Jefferson Station, and used the hotel as a brief but much-appreciated respite from the activities of the day. Price was good, and we know they have awesome rooms with water views. Apparently they save the Hotel.com price for the dumpster, parking lot, wall view customers. OK we paid motel rates got a motel room. But the Hampton Inn has a better continental breakfast.

We stayed in a beautiful room within great view.all facilities were clean and well kept.i thnk staff could be more helpful when checking regarding luggage. We were 2 ladies and had difficulty bringing our bags up the stairs. A fellow resident ended up helping us. Staff should ask if we nee help.

Not what you think. Clean, Comfortable, Convenient, Breakfast and service was terrible. Need to improve that or just take it away. If you offer something, then do it well or dont do it at all. For the price it needs some improvement. Nearby are better deals. Work out room is a smelly left over room that is not taken care of.

Much improved from years gone by. A bit noisy but in a good location for our needs. Price during the week was good. Some confusion about whether the bedding was down/feathers (no tags) and room sprayed with air freshener unless otherwise requested(wish we had known) Terrific breakfast and view from dining area. Very pleasant staff at all levels.

The did a nice job renovating, but need to work on the upkeep of the rooms. It was very clean, but there was some peeling wallpaper, rips on one of the chairs in the room, and the heater didn't work all that well. If they want to pass themselves off as a luxury hotel, they need to pay attention to these details. If they just want to compete with Comfort […] Inn or similar, then they are doing fine. Visited both the bar at night and restaurant for breakfast and both were disgustingly dirty with almost absent service. For the bar we stopped for drinks before going to our room and every single table was full of dirty glasses and no one working the floor. We cleared our own table to another table and they stayed their for the night (over 2 hours). […] For the 'free' breakfast we arrived and all 30 tables were dirty and no one working. All the juice carafes were empty, all three pastry plates were empty except one small danish, 2 cereals remained, etc. What a disaster! Everyone was complaining about the lack of service so I complained to the manager. Next day (Saturday) we returned to see if breakfast had improvoed. WOW!, we arrive and there was hot buffet, all the pastries were stocked, juices were filled and all tables were clean. As we were being seated the server told us continental breakfast was $9.95 and hot buffet $15.95. So when it is 'free' during the weekdays they treat you like pigs in a barn. Overall, we had a pleasant experience. We didn’t spend a lot of time at the hotel. We were there visiting family for the holiday. When we checked in after a 14 hour drive, the last thing we needed was a front desk with an attitude. My wife stopped me from making any direct comments to the person at the front desk. She didn’t want to start things off […] on a sour note. I should have noted his name. We were tired and I only saw him that one time. So it was best to ignore the idiot. Another time I went to the front desk, the girl there just continued to do whatever she was doing for several minutes without any acknowledgement, I walked away. It’s best to avoid them. They need a refresher course in hospitality. After all, it is the business they choose. Also note, it’s not a big thing but, there is a $7.00 per day parking fee. I have one bone to pick with Danfords. There is a $7 per day fee to park in the hotel lot that was not mentioned until check out. Upon check in I was given a parking pass to hang on my rear view mirror but was not told that parking in the lot would cost me extra money. We have stayed at Danfords before and loved it. This time we were very close to the street and there were water stains on the ceiling. The air conditioner was ancient and difficult to control.

Beautiful setting, nicely appointed rooms and wonderful staff. However the old wood floors and HVAC was VERY NOISY. If you are a light sleeper this is not the place to get a good nights rest. We were in a building witn no elevator service and had to hump luggage up two filghts of stairs.

The hotel itself is dated, but the location is great. We only ate at the breakfast buffet and it was terrible, not a huge selection and what was there was cold. It took forever to get a hot omelet made which was very good. The rooms were clean but the bathrooms were very small. Housekeeping was very efficient in making up our room each day.
