We alway head to banff for our anniversary and stay at the Mount Royal. Every time we stay we are not disapointed. The staff are friendly, the rooms are very clean and very comfortable!!! The only thing is that we had asked for a king bed but because there was no more available we received 2 queens. My wife and I have recently stayed at Mount Royal Hotel located downtown Banff. The beds were slanted one way there fore we did not get a good sleep. The building is an older building and needs more maitnance but its not being kept up. We were also woken up by smokers outside as the building isnot very sound proof. Excellent service, allow pets, very accomadating staff and close to everything!

Although Banff is small and every hotel is essentially in a decent location, I feel this one is in the best spot. It is right smack dab downtown. Everything is right there that you need. Parking might be an issue in peak season but in Fall there were no issues. Conveniently located in downtown Banff. Close to all shops and restaurants and is pet-friendly! We will definitely return.

We loved our stay in your beautiful room!

This hotel is a classic. The location couldn't be better for shopping and downtown restaurants. The bed was comfortable. We couldn't help but notice that the vents needed cleaning, and the carpet should be replaced. It was very convenient to have free parking at this downtown location.

We enjoyed staying here except for being on the south wing which required going down some stairs. We both have knee problems. The mattress was one of the best we have slept on during our seven day adventure in Canada. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the Paddock Pub in the basement was rustic and relaxing. We stayed at both the Mount Royal and Fairmont Banff Springs. Mount Royal was much cheaper and a better value. Nice clean room. So close to everything. Bus stop across the street, all the restaurants are walking distance, and so are the clubs. Rental Car place is a 2 min walk. Bus from hotel to Sulphur Mountain was $2 and takes less than 10mins.

The hotel was perfect for shopping downtown and a quick drive to the hot springs and Gondola. The room however was awful. The carpet was torn and stained. I would not stay here again.

Mixed experiences at the front desk,Sharon was super nice and friendly. Really look like she enjoy serving the guest and enjoy her job. Is located right down town Banff and is as close to all the things you would like to see when in Banff. Bus service outside your door and great places to eat and drink. Not one of the nices of places in Banff I have stayed but I would go back there for location and the rooms were clean.

Right in the heart of down town banff the hotel was very nice. close to all amenities. Very clean. It was a great hotel and you really couldn't beat the price. The hotel is fine, not too fancy but clean with good AC, comfy beds and soft pillows. It's location is ideal. It's right in the middle of downtown Banff. For two weeknights it August, it was very fairly priced.

We have stayed at this hotel four times in the past three years because of the location in downtown Banff. There has only been one time that we were satisfied with the room, and based on our last stay, we will seek alternate accommodation on our next visit. The room was small, the bathroom was very small, the carpets were stained, there were stains […] on the walls, and there were not any pictures on the walls. Liked the location to Banff. Couldn't be any closer to downtown.

Our room was in a most Inconvenient location ... we had to carry luggage down stairs as there was no elevator to that part of the hotel ... the room was small but understood it was an older hotel so not a problem ... just the walking and climbing with luggage. It was a great location for seeing downtown Banff and nice to have a parking space.

Booked knowing that the hotel was in the middle of downtown. Very nice lobby with Tony Romas attached. New TV and bed linens. Room was clean, but the bathroom needed help. Paint needed in the bathroom, and the shower curtain had some mildew stains on it.

Great people very helpful. However the rooms were very small for the price Over all a great stay, thanks

We really enjoyed it, the beds were very comfy and we were close to the main drag and we loved that the parking was so close.

The hotel room felt like from a 5 star hotel. Staff very friendly. Perfect location in the middle of the nice Banff shops. Parking free, but not very convenient.

The hotel location was perfect and the staff were great. The carpet in our room was worn and spotted but everything else was well worth the money.

This hotel was awsome. It is located right in the heart of downtown banff and is close to everything in the town. The beds and room were very nice. The only downfall was that the walls are thin between rooms and you can easily hear when others take a shower or talk in the hall. The location can not be beat!

We stayed in 270 for 2 nights this week. The room was next to a water tank of some sort so we were woken up in the middle of the night by other guests showering. The tank started with lots of banging & at first we thought someone was trying to get in to our room. Result - 2 bad nights of sleep. We mentioned it on the first morning - the girl at reception […] said "ok, thanks for telling us", and on check out when the only comment was "never mind, but I see you weren't by the laundry room". Loved the Mount Royal! Location! Location! Location! A reasonably priced option right in the heart of the city on Banff Avenue. Be prepared for a hike to your room from the main lobby. The hotel runs parallel to half a city block along Banff Avenue. We are light travelers, so this did not pose a problem for us. The hotel also offers an elevator at the […] remote end of the hotel that exits past the Paddock Pub directly onto Banff Avenue. We actually stayed here two different times during our trip. We preferred to return to Banff and the Mount Royal from Jasper after one night there. Had a single queen room during the first stay (booked with Hotels.com). It was a small room but comfortable. We didn't spend much time in our room. Had a King room on the second stay booked directly with the hotel. Cost a few dollars more, but worth it. Very nice bed. Only problem with our King room was the air conditioner couldn't keep up. Being from the Pacific Northwest, sleeping in 74 degrees (F) is too warm for us. We like to travel on the cheap, so if you are like us .... Tommy's Neighborhood Pub was great for Happy Hour prices on beer and my wife and I enjoyed the Canadian Burger (with elk) and the Greek Chicken salad. Be prepared for rustic atmosphere, but we really didn't understand why people were flocking to pricier establishments across the street. There's a McDonald's for inexpensive breakfast and Subway for a lunch you can throw in your backpack. We loved Banff! I think the Mount Royal Hotel has the greatest location of all hotels in Banff! Not only is it in the middle of the townsite, but it is right next to the restaurants, gift shops, etc. Also, the bed was comfortable (big plus!).
