fab time, hotel and staff xcellent, refurbishment going on in interior in parts of hotel but will make this hotel even nicer. would hightly recommend

We were warned that there will be some renovations going on during our stay, but despite that, we found everything to be excellent. No warning that major refurb of hotel was in progress on communal accesses. Some mess and cables which were a trip hazard.

We all thoroughly enjoy our stay especially as the hotel upgraded all 13 of us to a deluxe room

We enjoyed it very much. Lovely hotel, clean and spacious room. Bit of a mystery tour to find the leisure centre. Food and drink so expensive in hotel that we ate outwith.

major works on hotel going on was not notifyed of extent of works going on. bfast was unbelivably bad poor bacon poor eggs poor sausage lacking in every way possible make better at home with a hangover!!!

Execellent service, room was lovely with a great view of the castle. Staff where very helpful and friendly.

I have stayed in many 5 star hotels, this is so far from 5 stars it's unreal. When we went in the lobby it looked nice, of course, and we were upgraded (great, we thought). After walking for ages to reach our rooms at the fourth floor, we finally reached our "upgraded rooms". Our room was tiny the TV was placed in a corner and nothing was complementary. […] A frigging bottle of mineral water for 4 pounds..There was no pressure in the shower so it took ages to take a shower. The "spa" is a pool, sauna and steam sauna. That was quite nice but since they are renovating you had to walk through catacombs to get there. The hotel needs massive renovating but it wont be enough unless they do a complete renovation. The "business room" was so pathetic. Two computers that were so slow it was mind blowing and they still charged me 5 pounds to use the internet for 30 minutes.. I will never stay at this hotel again. もっと読む

We requested and received a room with a magnificent view of the castle! Room was first rate. Staff excellent. We were even able to check in early. Great value too. We travel a LOT, and this hotel gets our highest possible rating and recommendation.

After reading many terrible reviews about this hotel i was surprised to find that there was nothing to worry about, although the hotel is going through refurbishment this does not effect any of the hotels 5star amnities you would never notice unless you were sleeping in the hall way which you dont. we stayed in the castle veiw room and had the most […] perfect weekend. Breakfast was perfect and catered for both continental and english breakfast. The staff were always there to take care of every need and very friendly. I would certainly return to this hotel. The Caledonian Hilton Princes street Edinburgh, great staff, great location. My room was upgraded to a suite by the by the friendly professional staff. I had an excellent view of Edinburgh Castle and the breakfast in the morning was first-class. Overall great Hotel

My wife has several quite severe food allergies and it is an absolute nightmare trying to find anywhere to stay that is prepared to accommodate her. This hotel should not be passed by. The service and locality of this beautiful hotel are second to none. We stayed here for the Hogmonay celebrations & couldn't have picked a better location, just a minutes walk to the street party. Brilliant views of the castle from the hotel, a minutes walk from Princess Street and short walk to castle, royal mile etc. Room was fab & staff were very friendly & helpful. Definitely recommended :-)

We spent 2 nights at the hotel and were extremely happy with our stay. Our room was upgraded on arrival to a room with a castle view and the location was ideal for getting out and about. The hotel staff were extremely helpful and the girls in the spa were great. The only downside to our stay was the lack of parking which for a 5* hotel is not ideal. […] We had to park a short distance away in a public car park and leave our (brand new) car there for 3 days. My girlfriend and I stayed at the Caledonian as the last stop of our trip around Scotland, and we finished the trip in style (which was helped by the upgraded room we recevied). The hotel is in a great location with great views out to Edinburgh castle and very convenient for transport to and from Edinburgh airport. My stay at this hotel was excellent. Had no complaints and the hotel representatives were very helpful. The breakfast buffet staff were very friendly and helpful and the buffet itself was excellent. I would definitely stay there again.

my sister and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay - we voted the breakfast's the better by far than any other hotel in which we stayed on our trip.

The Caledonian is a large stylish older hotel, well fitted with most modern amenities. It's just a short walk to the Edinburgh Book Festival venue and to many Edinburgh Festival and Fringe venues. Had a lovely three days at the Caledonian Hilton in Edinburgh. We were lucky enough to be given a room overlooking the castle. The room was clean, comfortable and the air-conditioning worked (previous reviews had commentated on non-functioning air-conditioning!) Being situated at one end of Princes Street the location couldn't have been more convenient. The […] staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Breakfast was a vast buffet spread of pretty much anything you could think of. Omelettes could be cooked to order and there were a number of other breakfast items which could be ordered through the waiting staff. We didn't use the health club so can't comment. We did pop in to Henry J Bean's (attached to the hotel) on the first night as we were looking for a quick bite to eat after arriving late. Henry J Bean's was practically deserted at 10pm on a Thursday evening. It was shabby and lacked atmosphere. That said, the staff were very friendly. disappointed with lack of service to an issue with tv and breakfast service was poor given we had to ask twice for 2 things we had ordered.

The standard room was very basic for that level of hotel but once we had upgraded we were far happier. We did have a problem with the shower which the hotel tried to fix unsuccessfully but this did not affect our stay at the hotel. The location was perfect though and this is why we would recommend it.

Only negative really was internet access, or rather the lack of it. (even in business center)

This hotel is in probably the best location in Edinburgh, across the street from the Edinburgh Castle grounds. Easy access to everything in Edinburgh. We learned that the hotel is going to be converted into a super luxury property, probably too expensive for most tourists. So go while you still can.

The hotel location was just perfect close to the castle, shopping and bus connection to and from the airport.

Great location right in the heart of the city, short walk to the Castle and the major shopping areas. Plenty of bars and restaurants in close proximity. first room was filthy, rug etc 2-5 rooms had a very noisey furnace final suite was beautiful and quiet thanks to the concierge!

I stayed here for 3 days over a normal June weekend (Not a bank holiday). The room was priced at over 1000 Euros for that weekend. I'm convinced we got the worst hotel room in the entire place. The hotel overlooks Edinburgh Castle, but our view from our room was of a car park out the back. The room was so stuffy that we had to open the windows at all […] times. We had the sound of delivery trucks early in the morning coming in through our open windows. The fan in the bathroom didn't work so that was really bad and so stuffy after 3 days. It just looked like it hadn't been done up since the 80's. We booked our engagement holiday last Christmas thinking that the earlier we booked, the better the room would be. Be no, the more money you spend the better the room you get. They call the room a superior deluxe. I call it a disgrace. Shambolic. I would never stay here again. I'm also staying in the Hilton in Dublin, Charlemont Place, and after this Hilton experience, I'm not looking forward to it. I always thought that the Hilton was a great hotel group..... Hotel is in a great location. The hotel is beautiful inside and the staff were really hepful and friendly. Would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We had a wonderful experience during our stay. The staff was so helpful and went out of their way to help us. The location was amazing...we looked out our window to behold a huge cathedral and the Castle...wow!!! All amenities that you would ever want...very modern in a very ancient setting....recommend highly.

What a beautiful hotel and so elegant. The room was fantastic and the breakfast substantial. The staff were so friendly, professional and helpful.

The hotel, staff, room, breakfasts, car parking and general service where of the highest standards. HOWEVER Stg15 per day to check your emails!!!! I don't think so!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What a stupid way to spoil an otherwise outstanding experience.
