The fridge ran all the time, the furniture was well worn and wallpaper was loose many

We have been visiting the Royal York for 30+ years. It remains a consistently great place. Its an older building, so rooms are smaller, but well furnished, well maintained, with great service. Arriving there feels like coming home.

We stayed for three nights at the Royal Fairmont. The room wasn't huge, but it was comfortable and we weren't in Toronto to sleep! You can't beat the location, we stepped off the train and within 10 minutes were in our room! Great for picking up the subway, too. WiFi doesn't exist, but I was able to pick up a good signal from a neighboring building with an unlocked network! Concierge was helpful, but not very creative in her ideas and solutions. She needs to get out more and discover more interesting places. Other staff was very helpful and fast with a broken coffee pot and a noise complaint.

We enjoyed the old-tyme charm of the Fairmont Royal York, the convenience to the Air Canada Centre and the courteous service and amenities.

The Fairmont Royal York is a Beautiful, Grand Hotel. The people who work there were lovely to me. The restaurant was wonderful and service was terrific - even give sample tastes for desserts. The location is great. Thank you.

My fiancee and I loved this hotel. The Fairmont was beautiful, clean and had impeccable customer service. The concierge was very knowledgeable about the surrounding area and gave us a great many ideas for restaurants and things to do.

The hotel was very nice, great location, however, I wish had known the hotel charged $40 a day for parking before I booked.

This hotel makes you feel what it might have been like in the past in Toronto before all the high rise office buildings sprang up. Convenient to tourist attractions: CN Tower, the islands, harbor cruise, etc. Go out the front door and walk to your left for about three blocks and then enjoy a great French bistro (on the right) and all sorts of other restaurants. Loved the York

Great location. It was very convenient to have an airport shuttle bus from the hotel.(It stops 2-3 hotels in downtown). Restaurants in the basement closed too early like 8PM, only the bar or a formal restaurant was open after 8PM. The hotel is lacking a casual dining place which stays open longer hours.

The hotel lives up to the Fairmont brand. Service is as expected from a premium brand. Rooms are a bit small as this is an older hotel. Location is good close to downtown, rogers center, union station, entertainment district.

The room and all the employees at the hotel were outstanding. I did have an issue with a recommendation from the concierge about a restaurant but other than that the room was clean, bed was comfortable and people were great!

Although the common areas are lovely, my room was old and extremely dated. There's no wireless connection, and I was unable to connect with the Ethernet. They changed the modum but they confirmed there was an issue in the wall. They were sold out so I was stuck. Also the elevator was out of order for part of the time, ...not practical. The gym however was newly redone, and had state of the art machines.

Nice hotel, but a little worn and overpriced. There are a lof of hotels in Toronto that are newer, cleaner and just as swanky ... but for less per night. It's not a bad hotel, but for the price I was surprised there is no free internet access and no WiFi at all.

This hotel has excellent service and I mean excellent. The staff was very accomadating. The room was large, recently remodeled with a great view. It was very clean. The health club has a great pool and hot tub. The location is perfect very close to both Yonge St and the waterfront, one block from hockey hall of fame. I cannot say enough wonderful things about this hotel. I will highly recommend it to everyone and stay here again!

I had heard about the famous Fairmont Royal York Hotel during a previous trip to Canada some years ago when I visited two Fairmont hotels in the Canadian Rockies. These two hotels in Calgary so impressed me that I resolved to stay in the Royal York in Toronto at some future time. When I did stay for three nights recently I was glad to find that it exceeded my expectations. This is a grand hotel with an old world character that is unique. It was designed and built in an era when there was a great sense of occasion attached to staying in a great hotel in one of the capital cities of the world. This place has none of the bland style that can be associated with some modern five star city hotels. The staff at the Royal York were caring, discrete, helpful and very dignified. The hotel has managed to adopt to the modern era and to the needs of the modern visitor without abandoning any of its old world charm. The rates were also very reasonable for such a high standard hotel. In short The Fairmont Royal York Hotel in Toronto is, without doubt, the probably the finest hotel I have ever stayed in.

This Hotel was very classy, but the rooms were a bit small. Small pool. The most unattractive part was the $40 a day for parking. There is no where else to park too. And you have to valet your vehicle and the attendants were tip hungry. I am sure there are more nicer places to stay at. The best part of the hotel was the location. right across from Union Station and near the CN tower & Rogers Centre.

The special "Gold" floor is worth it! Concierge was OUTSTANDING. What an awesome deal on this hotel!

The Royal York is a grand hotel in the tradition of the old grand hotels. Nice lobby and well furnished rooms. None of this minimalist stuff! The hotel is nicely maintIained and updated. Excellent swimming pool (indoor). Convenient location with access to ghe subway, shopping and restaurants through the underground passages

The location gives you the perfect spot to see the city

Hotel was centralized in heart of all Toronto's activities

Beautiful, historic hotel. Downtown Toronto. Excellent price, outstanding service. Cannot ask for more. Would love to stay there again.

We arrived late 8:15pm and were told our room still was not ready!! We were able to check in at 9:00pm, very unacceptable after we have driven 8 hours to arrive and were very tired. Thought this was unusual for a Fairmont but the bellman told us this was a normal occurance there!!

Great hotel, great location, quiet, clean etc......all good

hotel was clean, staff was friendly, and had nice amenities. only problem was that every extra was sold at a cost- including toothbrushes etc., that normal hotels have for free in case you forget one at the front desk.

For a hotel of 1400 rooms it was extreemly annoying that we were not able to check in to our room until 9pm! I have neve stayed at a hotel where check in was not available until 6 hours after the stated time (check in should be at 3pm.) A 60 dollar voucher was obviously welcomed, although I would have preferred our room for the previous 6 hours, we had reservations for a meal up the CN tower and were unable to change prior to the meal. The staff were helpful (charged our camera prior to meal so we could still take pics) but they queried what we spent the 60 dollars on when it came to check our, and tried charge me for the mini bar. Ultimatly I found this hotel the worst on our 2 week holiday, we were only in toronto for less than 24 hours, arriving at the hotel at 1 and leaving at 11, and the Fairmont (the hotel I expected to be the best of the trip wound up being the worst.)

However, teh food in teh hotel restaurants and room servcie was decidely overpriced. We used restaurants and markets outside the hotel.

Outstanding Hotel in a beautiful city

The hotel was great! The staff was wonderful and the rooms were clean, spacious and inexpensive. A definite value for your money. It is located in the heart of the downtown area. Everyhing is in walking distance - mall, food, shopping and clubs. I was very happy with my stay there.

My boyfiend and I were very please with the hotel and all of it aminities. We went to Toronto for an extended weekend getaway and had a great time. Valet parking can be a bit costly, however it does allow you in and out parking which is cheaper then the local garages. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Fairmont and would return there again.

Close to the famous sights in Toronto, including the Hockey Hall of Fame. No bell hop service, however, caused me to rely on the kindness of a outoing guest to get my luggage up the stairs and get into the hotel. Additionally, I woke up the night clerk on a Friday night to ask him a question, as he was obvious sound asleep in the back. I paid too much for such poor service.

Hotel had no record of my reservation. Took 20 minutes to check-in, at least. Waited in line for 30 minutes to get a copy of my final bill. Otherwise, great hotel in great location.

Beautiful hotel overall, highly recommended. Only gripe:: Room wasn't totally cleaned when we first checked in; but was immediately done after phoning the front desk.
