"Great Service"
We were staying at the hotel the night before a trail running race. We had to get up very early in the morning well before the breakfast cafe was going to open. "Close to everything"

We stayed at the Express while visiting Helen during Oktoberfest. I knew it was going to be a rough stay when upon checking in I learned the two rooms I reserved were on separate floors and not even close in proximity. I made the reservations 2 months in advance, come on now there's no excuse for that. I was, thankfully, able to swindle us into rooms […] on the same floor, but not near each other. Isn't that one of the reasons we make early reservations in the first place? Anyhow, the rooms seemed tidy and there were security cameras everywhere so I guess we were supposed to feel safe. My in-laws room seemed just fine, but the room I stayed in had a broken remote, lights weren't working, and the bathroom air vent was broken. The room (112) had a foul smell to it as well. The only issue that I have is the Check-in time. it is clearly stated that the check in time is 3:00pm. We arrived and tried to check in at 2:35. I was told that I would have to wait until 3:00. "Non-Smokers Beware!"
We were put in a smoking room as there was not a non-smoking room available with 2 beds. On expedia I wasn't given a choice as to non-smoking or smoking room. The room REALLY smelled of smoke. My sister and I went out and bought a room deodorizer for our 3 day stay. It helped a little. I would give the hotel an A, but the kitchen crew a C on mannerism. The hotel was clean and in a safe neighborhood. The staff was very friendly, and the room was very spacious. We only had a couple of small problems. First, the AC did not cool the room to my liking. The worst part was that cigarette smoke came through the bottom of the door at night. We had to put a towel under the door. It was a "no smoking" hall.
