The vallet parking was very convenient. I was pleasantly surprised to be allowed to check in early and most of all I loved that after we checked out we were able to leave our car in their parking lot for several hours while we did more shopping and had a late lunch. I can't wait to stay there again.

I highly recommend this hotel.

My husband and I periodically spend a weekend in San Francisco, and we chose this hotel recently because of its historic character (and especially beautiful public spaces). We had a wonderful experience as a result of some special attention from the front desk manager, who went out of his way to help when we had difficulty using our door key ( leaving […] champagne in our room by way of apology). When we left, he even walked us to the Bart station to help us down the stairs with our luggage. Upsides: Room was spacious and comfortable, and slept like a baby in the bed. The bathroom was also really nice and clean. A free bottle of water is a nice touch too. Everything was great except our keys only worked once in awhile and that was frustrating. The coffee in the little machine was not good and no tea except green was offered. The bathroom at the pool was not clean.

Thought that the staff at the front desk was snobby, but the location was right . The room was fairly clean, but there was hair in the bathtub.

the higher ratings didn't seem to match the experience I had at this hotel. The common areas seemed run down and the rooms were OK. I had to have someone come fix my heating system that only blew cold air into the room, and none of the rooms have the individual coffee/tea makers.

Great stay at good location..the trolly out side our door was only$.75 down to the Ferry Bld. and wharf cause we're old. The Hotel was well maintained for an old,historic hotel.The only complaint was the week spray in the shower. Staff was very helpful when I phoned re: my lost jacket. We absolutely loved the hotel!! unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy it as much as we would have loved to. I loved how quiet it was and we were able to rest all night without any noise. It was incredibly quiet and peaceful, the gym was great as well as the pool usually this hotels don't have pools and they are very small the receptionist at the gym […] was very helpful and sweet. Coffee was great in the lobby !! The service overall was wonderful, unfortunately I think the breakfast was too expensive and didn't have much of a variety. I went with my boyfriend and parents to this hotel, and we were very satisfied with our stay. The people were very helpful and nice. There was always someone free to help whenever we needed it. The room was very nice and clean. It is however a downer that the hotel doesn't offer free internet. This is the third time we've stayed at the Palace and, as usual, everything was excellent. The concierge was extremely helpful in finding a fun Italian restaurant nearby, even making the reservations for us!

Great place in center of city. Everything within walking distance.

We stayed here last minute because we didn't want to deal with driving home after a party on a rainy night. The hotel was a very beautiful place to walk into. The parking was a little tricky and expensive, about $50. Being somewhat familiar with San Frans one way streets was helpful. The room was very nice and very clean. The only complaint I might have is that the beds we not comfortable. Everyone woke up with sore backs. I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality of service and the wonderful little extras that made stay. I arrived before check in, no problem, they had a room available early for me and took me right to my room. Clean room, good linens, very nice toiletries, and complimentary bottled water were nice too. The bar and grill was easy and very tasty. […] My only negative feed back would be our room had an odd smell of old cigarettes and the Internet access was an additional fee ( although free in the lobby). My first time staying at the Palace Hotel and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff was very polite and helpful. The hotel is beautiful and its location is great. I enjoyed eating breakfast in that magnificent room. Highly recommend this hotel to others. Hope I get to stay there again one day.

good flexibility by the staff- my friends thought I had booked their room and when we got there the hotel was full. the front desk quickly moved us from a king to 2 queen beds and averted a meltdown. I also locked myself out and they were FAST to get up with a key. no complains.

We had a wonderful stay in San Francisco at the Palace Hotel in August, 2011. The Pied Piper Bar was fantastic, the concierge was most helpful, the location couldn't have been better, and the beds were dreamy. We absolutely loved it and I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!

The Palace Hotel was built almost 100 years ago but you'd never know it. It has been perfectly renovated and maintained and is in far better condition than most newer hotels. The cleanliness of the hotel was lacking in all areas. Common areas, pool, hotel room, lobby etc. Housekeeping was unacceptable in our room even after we placed a call to the Housekeeping Manager. We expected more from this luxury propery and were quite disappointed. In addition, there were police officers outside the room next door to us for 24+ hours […] apprehending a gentleman for most of the night. The room next to us looked like a crime scene and our children were frightened. The hotel was also very short staffed. On Saturday night, there was only one concierge staff member on and a line with at least 8 people waiting. Same issue with check in on Friday afternoon. Overall, a very disappointing stay. The hotel is grand on the scale of the Lutetia in Paris and other beautiful historic properties and the ceilings in the room were high but the mattresses really need changing. I don't know whether that is the type of mattress they are aiming for but I found them way too soft for more than a few days. Appreciated having a fridge in the room to store amazing produce from the Ferry Farmer's market (just a short walk away). The gentlemen at the desk were awesome (older guy w a french accent at night and a dark haired gentleman in the mornings) but I thought one of the asian american ladies working the desk was none too personable (kinda stiff and by the book. with noone waiting behind me, i asked her a basic dining question that people working in the area should know --ie what do you like for coffee around here and she was like oh i need to refer you to the concierge for that kind of question. wow really? it's not like i am asking you to make me a reservation at the french laundry). the pool is amazing and i think one of the few pools at good hotels in the city. we really like pools so i definitely looked. the water was warm and the pool room was fairly warm which is great for the cold weather in sf. overall would love to stay again but not for more than a few days unless they upgrade those mattresses. oh and coffee service was a nice touch but during the week they stop by 8:30 am which i think is a bit early もっと読む

This is more than just a hotel. The Palace is a piece of SF history at it's finest. It has been beautifully restored and it shows in every detail. As you walk into the lobby and see the amazing architecture, you can just feel the history. The staff was wonderful, the rooms were beautiful and the location was perfect for us.

Loved it! loLoved it! It does not get better. Best hotel in San Francisco. The staff works hard to keep this a number one hotel.

I had a great stay at the Palace Hotel in San Francisco. The staff were welcoming, knowledgeable and helpful. The rooms were great, plenty of room, great bed and well maintained. The view was not great but the location was amazing. Felt like a true holiday, no complaints.

This place is beautiful, and the service is impeccable! My wife and stayed here while finding a place to live in SF, where we are moving in two weeks. Our room was spacious and incredibly comfortable and quiet. We had some 'happy hour' snacks in the Pied Piper and were too full afterwards to have dinner! The 'small plates' are very generous and delicious. […] We had the Tuna Tartar and Truffle Fries...they were both incredible. Because the hotel is so grand and spectacular, some of the rooms are a healthy walk from the elevators. If this is an issue for you, it may be a good idea to request a room close to the elevator cluster. Otherwise, I highly recommend this hotel. It gives any traveler a view into the colorful and nostalgic history of the coolest city in America! Oh yeah...and the atrium off the main lobby will blow your mind! Absolutely beautiful and a brilliant location - so pleased we stayed there and not in the rather tacky Fishermans Wharf. Would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Nice pool for kids, good location for simple foods nearby like organic burgers and shakes, a La Boulange on the next block and easy walking distance to Union Square, the Cable Car etc..
