We stayed here one night after a wedding reception since we live 5 hours away. The Motor lodge rooms didn't look that inviting from the outside, but inside they were very clean and comfortable. They were nice and roomy too, with two beds, desk, table and 2 chairs and another comfy chair, plus a little balcony. Overall it was a very good value. Our room had a small deck outside overlooking a wooded area. This would have been really lovely, but there was trash, beer bottles strewn in the area that spoiled the scenery. They should be more vigilant about keeping that area clean.

The walls are paper thin in the motor lodge, so the rooms are a little noisy. The facility was nice and the staff was friendly and accomodating. The bakery makes the most incredible pecan sweet rolls.

Wine spills on the table from a previous occupant,, a beer can sitting outside on our porch directly in front of the window, lots of trash and garbage outside the window, so rather than seeing a pristine woods you saw garbage. No fridge or microwave, ice is hard to find. Nice coffee and sweet breads, plus a paper for breakfast was a plus.

I checked in a day early at 3:00 a.m. and was given a very reasonable rate for my portion of a night's stay. They made sure that I would not need to change rooms the next day. Really good coffee and sweet breads were part of the deal with the room. Tthe choices were many and the size of the items left me feeling free to try a variety. The lady in the bake shop called a breakfast order upstairs for me. Getting there to pick it up was a rustic adventure. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick it up I was given a tour and historic facts about the building were shared while I waited. Very cool. These people can cook and the breakfast was really good. This was our anniversary celebration and we like to stay at the Public House Inn and eat dinner down in the old tavern. Last year we had a cute, small room with a large bathroom in the old inn and loved it. This year the Inn was full so we stay in their motel. The room was large, clean and confortable. I stayed at this hotel because I was invited for the wedding at the same place. The wedding was nice. The room I got was not in the same building. We had to walk up the hill to get to the room and some lights were not on even at night. So, I drove between buildings. Price was great because I used "hotels.com". The signage around the grounds and in the restaurant/Inn could be improved. We found ourselves wondering and asking for help whenever we entered the old building. We stayed at the Motor Lodge. We walked into where the sign said "Registration" and we waited at what was obviously a waiting area near a hostess station. After mulling around a bit, searching […] for someone who worked there, a waitress informed us that the hotel check-in desk was around the corner past the hostess station. Confusing. Once they found our reservation we made our way over to the room. (Although, I'm not sure if they actually did find it. Bring your Hotels.com receipt with you.) The map they gave us was excellent, but the sign on the road to the Lodge said "Exit" and nothing else. Confusing. Then we went to the restaurant for dinner. We wanted to go to the cheaper and reservation-free tavern. Turns out, the restaurant and the tavern are the same place. Confusing. We were seated right away and received a %10 discount on dinner because we were staying at the hotel. Our hotel stay also gave us free coffee and baked goods in the morning at "The Bake Shoppe", but when we went to get coffee at "The Bake Shoppe" we were told the coffee for guests was actually down the hall and near the entrance to the restaurant. Confusing. Again, no signs anywhere directing you where to go. I think they rely a lot on repeat business and people eventually just getting the hang of it. I will say that I would definitely stay here again. The food was delicious, the room was clean, and the location was beautiful. The staff was extremly friendly and helpful. The room are clean and comfertable, II enjoyed the location . The only thing that was not good was that the bathrooms are on the small side ,and the rug leading into the bathroom was frayed .

Finding the room in a back building was a little tricky at night, but the room was fine once found. We were disappointed that there was no coffee maker in the room, but the complimentary coffee and baked goods in the morning were a treat.

On our way back to Canada from Virginia, we had the opportunity to stay overnight at the Publik House Inn and Lodge. We were surprised at the number of buildings in the complex. Everything was still decorated and lighted from the holiday season, and looked lovely in the evening. Our room was clean and comfortable, high ceilings, balcony (great in summer), and everything we needed. The room had 2 queen beds - a little on the firm side, so anyone wanting less firmness should ask. They have a good menu, and lots of choices - we left too early for breakfast, but next time... Our initial impression was 5-star: the house, room and tavern were beautiful and comfortable. Other than the bed being a full (booked a queen), it was fantastic. Then we retired for the night. 9 pm: loud, drunken group in the courtyard... No problem, it was only 9 pm. They went inside by 9:30 and we figured we were in the clear. Then the disco music […] started somewhere inside the house. Must have been a wedding or holiday party. Figured it would end by 10pm. At 10:45, a call to the front desk informed us that the party would end around 11:30pm. Suggestion to the hotel staff: let guests know when there's a party, that the walls are thin, and that perhaps the guests would be more comfortable in the adjacent house. もっと読む

Apple Orchard surrounding. Family restaurant and old Pub on site. Personal entrances, tons of privacy. Cute little balcony's attached. Not a classic hotel format. Many 20 room buildings instead. Rooms were large and comfortable with plenty of space and knooks.

GREAT RESTAURANT. DESK SERVICE WAS A BIT SLOW=BUT WE WERE THERE OFF SEASON AND ARRIVED AROUND 4 PM. EVERYONE WAS VERY NICE=STAYED IN THE MOTOR LODGE-CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE,

Convenient to Sturbridge and Southbridge. Vey reasonably priced.

We enjoyed staying here. It was close to the attraction we wanted to see. But we thought the restaurant prices at the Inn were a little too high. We went into the next town to find a less expensive place to eat dinner the night we were there. Also there was no hair dryer. Very few hotels do not furnish a hairdryer these days.

We stayed two nights in the Lodge portion of the Publick House - meaning that we were actually BEHIND the Publick House itself. It's a very confusing and narrow driveway to the back of the property. Our room had two double beds and was quite large. The bathroom door, however, opened into the bathroom and was quite awkward. The walls were all covered […] in black and white toile and I think the curtains matched as well, making for a dizzying effect. Room seemed clean, it definitely was dated, tv worked fine, took a long time to get hot water in the shower, no coffee maker or hair dryer. We are used to a queen bed and only had a double. That may have been our fault for not checking. The second day we were there our room keys would not open the room. It necessitated a trip to the front desk in the main building to have them re-magnetized or whatever it is they do. The desk clerk on duty was by herself and the phone kept ringing. Plus she had several people at the desk to deal with. This was early evening. She seemed harried taking care of everyone. For the price, it was an okay place to stay. Convenient overnight stopping point for our trip to Maine. Rooms are dated and a little roughed up but clean and functional.

Convenient location/spacious and comfortable room/recommend to others, especially travelers who need pet-friendly accomodations. Great value!

we had a great 1 night stay (for a wedding) the room was very big, but, very old in style. beds were comfortable, and the entire room was very clean. i would stay at the Publick House again

This historic Inn has a gret staff that take cae of guests in a friendly and timely manner. The other benifits include discounts for wonderful food eaten in one of the restaurants on campus. Sign very hard to find front office Room was cold until I called front desk to find out how to turn heat on Breakfast was discounted with check in card and was excellent. Room was clean and comfortable not fantastic.

Stayed at the inn for 4 nights to attend the the Brimfield antique show and founf it a nice quiet inn that lives up to it's 2.5* rating. Pleasant surroundings, close to many eateries, and 15 min. from the show.

nice location. the lodge is dated, but very large rooms and reasonably clean. Had dinner and breakfast in the dining room and both were excellent. Overall a comfortable place to stay near Sturbridge Village.

What a wonderful place to stay. Right off the highway in Sturbridge. Built in 1772 with newer out buildings, convenient roomside parking. Will definitely stay there again when in that area.

The motel behind the inn was a bit old but the rooms were spacious and clean. They gave out coupons for $3.00 off the breakfast so it was quite reasonable. The old inn is interesting. The staff was very attentive.

If you're just looking for a place to cleep, this will work. The room was clean, but about 20 years behind the times! I haven't seen a room that didn't have a coffee maker, iron, and hair drier since I was 5! And WOW the toilet paper is THE CHEAPEST they could possibly get!! Barberic, really!! Very comfortable, large rooms on beautiful grounds. Main dining rooms and tavern are superb...a great find in an old New England Country Inn setting.

The actual Inn is lovely....it has all that "old" charm. I wish we would have had a room IN the actual Inn instead of the motorlodge. We last minute booked and ended up in the last set of rooms....it stunk of smoke, and the mattresses were not something to be desired. We ate breakfast each morning in the dining room, and the food was good.

Really inexpensive and clean. Bed comfy too. If you dont plan on staying in your room... This is yourvplace

for the price it was perfect, the room was clean! We did however not get there till after 10pm and found it very confusing to find our room. We had no idea where it was because it was very dark outside. But hopefully if I can return next year we will stay there. Thank you

everything about the experience was just so nice and the atmosphere is just as it was in the early 1930 ish time frame. we loved it. the service was great and the continental breakfast was adequate. the hotel food was good and the bakery was outstanding.

Ambience is great. Motel buildings adequate. Staf courteous. Nearby tornado damage was unforgetable. Complimentary breakfast snack was poor. No coffee, or mini muffins (only thing that was available) remained at 9:00 AM.

The hotel is a little bit of false advertising, it has a historic old part that dates to the 1700s, where the restaurant, bar, etc are located, but we stayed in a section that was built in the 1950s and was not very attractive. This was a beautiful facility filled with friendly people and wonderful food. This Inn has been around for many, many years, but is well kept, clean and full of old world charm. We loved the bakery and cant wait to go back and try out the dining room. I would recommend this Inn to anyone.
