Nice hotel,comfortable bed and close to everything you'd want to do in Banff. Parking is free, unusual in Banff, and breakfast was very good.

Hotel Front desk staff are not very personable, do not tell you what they are doing. ( I knew they would take a pre auth of my card, but not how much) the Front Desk clerk didnt even tell me how much he was pre authing for (no chip service at this place, so didnt need my pin) Front desk flat out lied to me upon check out. didnt get anything a reserved […] (paid for 1 queen bed, fire place, mountain view) got 2 double beds, no fire place and a lovely view of a decrepid parking lot which was used as a bar closing short cut by very drunk and loud people. Stayed at Ptarmigan in 2011 and enjoyed the visit. This stay was not as good as the first. Tub in the bathroom had obvious calcium/other staining and the radiator in the bathroom had half fallen off. My husband and I are still talking about how comfortable the bed was at this place. It was by far the best hotel bed I have ever slept in. The hotel was beautiful and the breakfast was good. Overall a great value!

Although the room was pretty standard and didn't have a decent T.V. or bar fridge, microwave, the service was fabulous. They were extremely accomodating and the buffet breakfast was second to none. Very nice hotel, just steps away from downtown. Courtious staff, clean rooms (although a bit dated, but who comes to Banff to sit in a hotel room?), breakfast was ok. One thing that could have made the stay a 10 was to put climate controls in the room. It got a little warm through the night and it would have been nice to turn down the temp.

the hotel offered great value, clean, quiet, and a great breakfast. Under ground heated parking, which in a snow storm was great.

Frent desk was not the friendliest or most helpful. We had to ask to have our room cleaned when we came back at 3pm. Rooms were nice though.

We really enjoyed our stay and the location was excellent since it was walking to all the attractions in town. The breakfast was wonderful and the omeletes really tasty. We had a corner room so the area was quiet but there was a train that went by many times a day. It wasn't very noisy though.

The staff were great and it was a great location but the rooms were way too hot. we had to leave window open all night with a fan going.

The hotel was nice though its dependencies are not so comfortable. A friend that traveled with me could not find anywhere the acclimatisation control. I also DO NOT recommend the Meatball restaurant for dinner. They kept me waiting there for 15 minutes without anyone showed up to ask what I wanted. I had to leave and eat in other place.

We've stayed here before with an upgraded room facing the main street with a fireplace. Very Nice!!!! However, this time, we were uncomfortable, the bed had a feather topper that was lumpy (the feathers were poking us and they had shifted all over) and the pillows were horrible. After a fun filled day and after relaxing with hot tub/sauna/steam room […] (aaahhhhh) time, we retired to our room to get some sleep. Ha! That didn't happen. Walls were thin and someone nextdoor decided to have a shower at 11:30pm. Then around 2:00am we were rattled out of bed from a LOUD noice coming from the bathroom. It turned out to be the pipes shaking in the walls. OMG, thought they were going to burst! Well, then we couldn't sleep, tossed and turned the rest of the night. Let's say, skiing the next day day was difficult due to lack of rest. Don't get me wrong, nice hotel, friendly, helpful, good breakfast (included), clean rooms, close to everything!!!!! Staff friendly, breakfast great! Had to open window to decrease room temperature. Beds comfortable! It has been several years since we have actually stayed 'overnight' in Banff. This was the first time we had stayed at The Ptarmigan Inn. We found it to be very clean and comfortable. We were greeted with a smile when we arrived by Mary behind the front desk and all the staff that we encountered throughout our 3 night stay were all very accommodating […] and friendly. The rooms were clean and the beds were comfy. The breakfast in the mornings were hot and very tasty. I was pleasantly surprised at the selection and quality of the food. We enjoyed calling it home. But what we enjoyed most of all, was how close to all the action The Ptarmigan Inn is. We planned it that way in order to really experience Banff this trip. We could walk anywhere and be there within minutes. I would certainly go back and stay at the Ptarmigan Inn. I live in Calgary and during this trip I realized that I don't visit Banff enough. People come from all over the world to visit Banff... and they have it figured out. Hotel was great, staff were great. The only problem was the room was too hot and not adjustable from the thermostat. It was so warm that we were very dry in the morning with headaches that lasted all day. Also it would be nice to have some signs to and from the side access door to the parking lot. Great location. I never thought I would say this but the room was a tad warm, and this in January. But then we had an inside facing room. Good breakfast included in the rate! It was our second stay there and I would go back.

We stayed with a group of 8 young people ages 20 - 22 at the Hotel during the New Years celebrattions. They were very accomodating and serve a great breakfast buffet. Loved the hot tub!

I would always recommend going to Banff, but I would never recommend the Ptarmigin hotel. They use a centeral heat system that means your room is either super hot like ours was or it was really cold. The c heck in time was 4pm. We arrived tired from a long drive to be told our room was not ready but would be in 15 minutes. Checked back in 15 minutes to be told it still was not ready but would be in 1/2 hour. We finally got into our room after 5. Tired, we thought we would enjoy a hot tub and steam. The jets would not turn on in either of the tubs […] so we say in the hot water for awhile. The next day we were in and out of the room always leaving the "make up room" card on door. At 4 pm the room still had not been done so I called the front desk and said we were going to the exercise room for an hour and expected our room cleaned when we returned at 5. Well it wasn't. Again I called the desk and advised them we were going for dinner at 6 and expected our room clean when we returned later that evening. Upon our return all that was done were some clean towels, the carpets had not been vacuumed, beds unmade and bathroom untouched. It was a mess. Called the desk again and recieved an apology. The desk clerk was to speak to the manager and "perhaps comp the room for 1 night". I said that would be fine but I expect the next day to return to a clean room-and I did. We never got so much as an apology from the manager. The positives: the food in the restaurant was excellent and the location is mere steps from downtown. Great value! Got 2 rooms for 5 to share, saved tons with cost avoidances. All 5 access to free wi-fi! That's about 10 bucks a day times 5 people (iPhones, iPads, laptops) times 5 days, saved 250 on Internet charges you get at most hotels, not Here! Also came with breakfast, average cost for Banff area breakfast is about 20 bucks per person! my stay was it good and i enjoy

We stayed three nights and really enjoyed the fact the hotel is very close to the town centre. The "free" hot breakfast was outstanding too -- way better than we expected. The only complaints is our room was very tight (normal for banff though) and very, very hot. We had two fans going 24x7 trying to cool the room off, and this was in December! We stayed at the hotel dec.24 for 1 night and the only thing i will agree on with the folks on trip adviser is the halls were a little on the warm side. Other than that everything was great . The hotel is very centrally located on Banff Ave and amongst all shopping and restaurants - It is 2 min walk from Cascade Plaza. The food is excellent and the breakfast buffet with fresh omelette sets you up for the whole day. The room was comfortable but could do with a fridge. The beds were very comfortable Would definitively stay there again

We had horrible service while staying here. Our room was unbelievably hot and when I called the front desk to send someone up to look at it I was told nothing could be done and they didnt even suggest anything to help make it better. Our room also did not have a window so we got no relief. Worst sleep I have ever had. Horrible horrible service!!

The hotel seemed like it was falling apart. We entered the room to find huge dark stains by the bedside. When we entered the bathroom, the vent for heat was badly damaged, needed to be replaced, the tap for the sink and the drain cover for the sink both were laying down beside the sink obviously known they needed to be replaced. Very dissapointed in this hotel. Room was dirty and worn out. Bed was saggy and resulted in sore back. Room was too hot and could not cool it down (staff provided fans!). This hotel is well past its prime!

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel. the staff was very helpfull. The breakfast was very good., we enjoyed it.

Great hotel. This is now the third time I think we've stayed here. The included breakfast is awesome to have as it includes fruit, yoghurt, omelet station plus the usual toast, sausage, bacon, eggs etc and thus saves you having to go out and find food when you've woken up hungry. We enjoyed our stay in lovely Banff and at the Banff Ptarmagin Inn which had a bit of 'character' I imagine our room facing the inner courtyard could get hot in summer but we had no issues in early October. The room was small but comfortable but could have done with a fridge. The breakfast was excellent but could have been set out better. Some of the […] people on bus tours act as though they haven't been feed before and push and shove in the small space to get what they want. My advice - stand back and wait until they've cleared the area or be trodden on. Underground parking is great. Have stayed in this many times over the past 4 years but als this will be my last. Room was okay but nothing special for the price. The goods points were free internet and underground parking. Thats it. Cons - very poor room service. The card in the room said to dial a number for room service. Rang this but no answer then got told this not was not the […] right number. Got the meal - had to go to the lounge to order. Receive fries twice with no ketchup and one meal came with no cutlery. Hotel in Banff don't care about repeat business.
