The front desk was not helpful at all. Called twice about a problem with tv reception, said she was busy and would be there shortly, never showed. Went to check out and she was on a personal phone call while I waited for 10 minutes (just to hand her door keys).

All rooms open to outside - no internal halls and a neighborhood that seems like a place to exercise heightened awareness. When I checked in, I was given a room on the ground floor in a remote area. When I checked the door lock, it failed to lock automatically when leaving the room, and there was no way to lock the door from the outside. We have been staying at this hotel for many years, but was disappointed during our recent visit to Monroe over the Labor Day weekend. I discovered the sheets were not changed each night. When I called the front desk to inquire, I was informed that we should put the sign on the door if we needed to have the sheets changed. Very clean, comfortable. Staff was friendly and accomodating. Area of town is not the greatest, but it was convenient to where I needed to be. I recommend it!

while the room was nice and breakfast was great we really prefer inside entry rooms.

Breakfast was not good compare to other Hilton Inn.

I did not realize the area of town this was in or that the rooms were outside entry like a motel instead of a hotel. I have stayed a numerous Hampton Inns everywhere and have never seen this. When I was taking my luggage to my room I was approached by a man in the parking lot who insisted on carrying my bags and followed me to my room where he proceeded […] to tell me that he was down on his luck, unemployed and hasn’t eaten in 2 days. He asked me for money and food. I told him I was sorry but I did not have any. He finally left and I was able to get in my room. At this point I am scared because I am a small woman, around 30 years old, 200 miles away from home and in a hotel where a man has seen my vehicle, knows that I am alone and what room number I am staying in. I immediately called my husband and my boss who both told me to check out immediately and I did. Unfortunately, I was there for a business walk through with my company and no other rooms were available anywhere and I had to sleep on the couch of a co-worker who was staying at a near by hotel. When we returned to the hotel at 10:00 pm our key would not work so we had to go back downstairs to get another key. The second key did not work so that made a second trip up and downstairs. Then the manager came up with the key and it would not work for her so another trip up and down stairs to get a master key. Finally we were in. It was nicely remodeled and we enjoyed the free breakfast, but still cost more than I would've wanted to spend on a "motel". It was easy access from I-20. There is club down the street that created a bit of traffic on a Saturday night.

I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anybody. Poor customer service and smelly room. Light bulbs are half working...

Pro - Renovated old hotel; nice room; comfortable bed; not crowded; easy access from interstate 20 Con - outside entrance; no elevator (did not need it); excess roadway noise; old television (remote did not work).

We enjoyed staying at the Hampton Inn.... the room was very affordable and comfortable. I would recommend this hotel for your stay. The only drawback was teh exterior entry, but that was outweighed by the cleanliness of the rooms and comfortability.
