Overall hotel was ok I would stay again

okay for what we needed

Unfortunately we were stuck in a musty and smelly room which they couldn't switch us out off because the hotel was completely booked. However, the staff was friendly and tried to accomodate us as best as possible. I really did not like that the hotel was "pet-friendly". Had I known that, I wouldn't have stayed there. The staff was very nice and did everything to make sure I had what I needed during my stay. I would definitely stay there again.

This is a great location to stay if you are going to Sanibel/Captiva (pricey destinations). It was within 10 minutes of the islands, great spot. You still have to pay the bridge toll to the islands each time you cross the bridge, though. I would definitely stay there again.

I stayed here as I spent two half days on Sanibel island and the price and value of the La Quinta was very reasonable. The hotel was packed, which became especially clear in the morning. Breakfast is included, but due to my dietary restrictions there was nothing I could eat, and I had to wait in line for a thin yet bitter coffee.

The Pool is the best thing about this hotel, its heated and very large, the Jacuzzi is also relaxing. The rooms are good except the bathtub could have been more cleaner. TV was big and Wifi was good. This hotel was an unexpected surprise. It looks new and updated. The property is well-maintained. The staff is friendly and helpful. Pool area is very nice and staff is helpful. Cleaning could be better. Close to beatiful beaches on Sanibel and Ft Myers Beach.

Could not find a room at reasonable price on Sanibel or Captiva Island, this was the perfect option. Closest to islands and FM, reasonable, very affordable, very comfortable, the perfect choice.

The hotel was very nice and close to where we wantede to be and the pool are was very nice and clean.

La Quinta Hotel Gateway to Sanibel Island in Ft. Myers, FL has a nice staff and beautiful pool but needs some maintenance in the outside passage way areas due to pets urinating there and mold around the bathtub in the room we were in. The room deodorant spray that was used to cover up the mold smell was overpowering and the bathroom door wouldn't close […] because of the uneven slanted floor. I think old age is catching up with this hotel and it's starting to show...musty odors, stained sheets and broken door handles etc., are telling me this place is due for a renovation. We had two rooms and one room was VERY SMOKEY and the other one had a hint of smoke smell as well. Our clothes wreaked of smoke when we left. I thought all rooms had to be smoke free these days. Very disappointing.

comfortable stay - only complaint was loud a/c in the room. No bananas at breakfast - only apples.

My husband and I came to Ft Myers for Baseball spring training. This hotel was about 15 miles from Jet Blue Fenway South Park. We loved the pool & hot tub for relaxing. I've stayed at about a dozen different La Quintas. This one is probably the best I've stayed at. Very large pool and outdoor area. Comfortable pillow top mattresses, good linens and pillows. VERY loud! Outdoor walkways became places for people to gather and party. Also- even in a non-smoking room, when we returned all clothes had to washed and the suitcases aired out.

They initially put me into a smoking room (without asking me first, which I thought was absurd) but changed me to non-smoking in short order. Why you put someone in a smoking room without first asking them I think is pretty big miss. Pool and hot tub look nice, but didn't use them.
