I liked the place overall, but it was a bit tired and undermaintained in places. In general it was clean and the staff were good, but for the price I expected more. I'm not sure if the hotel is at fault, or Antigua is just relatively expensive but for the money I paid I expected not quite luxury but better than what I got. We went during and apparent off season (June). There seemed to be more staff than guests. All of the staff went above and beyond to ensure my wife and I enjoyed our visit. The concierge even volunteered to show us give us a tour of the island on his day off. We declined, however. Defintely worth every penny.

Scariest night of my life. This place is dangerous. I can't believe Hotels.com had 3 stars and the agent said it had good reviews. The place should be banned. It's completely deserted, no guests, no hot water, abandoned beach, the place is falling apart and close to a ghetto. It looks like it was once a hospital; its huge. but it was left to disrepair. […] I was too scared to leave my room. When I did in the morning, I went to get some sun (totally alone) and when I came back 1 hour later, was actually surprised my room was not robbed. The funny thing is the lobby looks recently renovated. I asked my taxi driver what was going on and he said at one time it was a prestigious hotel but nearly 20 years ago it was abandoned. Then some local bought the place and renovated it. He said the only time it is ever used is when an airline is delayed and needs space to house passengers.
