The location of Wrest Point is just around the corner from the centre of the city. It makes for a good walk in or a very quick drive to Hobart. It's very unique as it's a circular hotel. The valet service and staff were most helpful and friendly.

Great value for money. Lots of eateries that made it easy to take my 82 year old mother. A bit dated and there are some rooms that are a long way from the reception . Free parking

Rooms need updating but overall great value and a good location to get out and see all that Hobart and surrounding areas offer. We had a room with great views over the city and river - stunning outlook.

In Hobart for a visit to the MONA and a look around the city ,we found the Wrest Point a lovely comfy room to come back to.We were very pleased to have a room with a luxury bathroom and bathtub.The furnishings and colour scheme made the room feel "special". Included valet parking meant we could relax knowing our hire vehicle was off the street. Inclusion […] of hairdryer,toaster and tea making facilities is a great idea.The only low point ...the 2 sad,ordinary, plain,sweet biscuits (1 each) to have with tea on arrival.Savoury crackers and a little piece of cheese would have been more welcoming. Beware. The Water Edge room has a great view but is NOTlocated in the main tower. The Water Edge rooms are located in an old wing and are very very outdated. The color scheme, furnitue, look and feel is that of the early 1970s. The TV is one of the old type TVs and is located inside the main cupboard, which means that if you are lying down on your bed, […] only one person gets to watch TV. Had one of best rooms in hotel with great harbour views Lots of restaurants in hotel to eat at with various costing

We chose Wrest Point because of its iconic status in Hobart - the famous round building located on the point of the Derwent River and of course the first legal casino in Australia many years ago! The hotel itself is fairly underwhelming - quite old in its fit out - but still comfortable. The free valet and/or self parking on the property was welcomed. […] The staff generally are friendly, and there's enough to do on the property during your time there - a couple of different restaurants and bars - if gaming is not your thing. If you don't mind a flutter, the casino is small but still fun - with most of the major table and pokie games on offer - it's an easy way to kill some time during your stay (betting with your head, not over it of course!). There is broadband cable internet in your room for laptops which is handy if you're there for business, and paid wi-fi in the lobby area for tablets, phone and other web connected devices. The wifi is pretty slow, but we found that with Tasmania in general - bring on the NBN for that reason! Overall, we would consider returning to Wrest Point when we next have to go to Hobart, though it is not an automatic selection - I would certainly review and consider other properties too. もっと読む

I don't like it as the rooms are too small when compare to standard of Tasmania hotel, Mountain side means no views without internet nor service, I rather stay in the YHA at such costs.

The old Wrest Point, where would honeymooners have been without it being there during the 80's ! (we went to Bali, but that's for another review). The Hotel opened in 1977 and the last re-furb was in 1996. We have stayed in Hobart 3 times in the past, yet never at the Wrest Point Hotel - first time for us. Stayed 2 nights (from a 5 night - 27th wedding […] anniversary Tassie get away), which is enough to get a good feel of the place. Drove up to the main entry point (of the hotel tower) and received FREE valet parking (this is standard for staying guests ... very nice !) Check-in was nice and easy, our room on 14th floor with what they call an Executive City Mountain View room, which was nice, as you could see mountains and part of the Sandy Bay Yacht Club / harbour. The late afternoon sun streamed into our room, and you could watch the sunset very easily. The window could slide open about 10cm, which was nice as we just found the room a little stuffy (if you don't have the aircon on). Just that small amount of open window was very nice ... we just like fresh air a bit more than aircon (did try the aircon, worked very well, did drop the temp very quickly). All temp variable (wall dial setting), so it heats and cools. Room was very gold, with gold curtains and gold bead spread, with a reddish coloured chair and ottoman (they use to be called a poof, not sure if you can call them that anymore - maybe not PC !). Maybe they were going for some kind of regal look ?? I was told they are going around the hotel and re-furbishing rooms at the moment Anyway, the room was clean, the bathroom (smallish) was also clean and well appointed with all the soaps / shampoo / shoe buffer / sewing kit / tooth brushes etc, and plenty of towels. The room had a small desk, there was Wi-Fi and a cable to connect also (didn't use so can't comment - I think it was user pays). Helt i top,meget venlige og hjælpsomme personale. Hotellet har en meget afslappet atmosfæren og mange muligheder for at spise rigtig godt.Der er meget rent og roomservice er fint,der blev gjort rent og skiftet håndklæder hver dag.Vi havde en fantastisk udsigt til bjerge og vand.Vi havde 5 fantastiske dage.smukke omgivelser og fin sejltur til Peppermint..Kommer […] meget gerne igen. もっと読む
